The thought of really loving someone scares alot of us to death. We have given love before and what happened?
We were hurt, betrayed, abused, and rejected. How can we let ourselves love again?
As hard as it is, we have to. We have to love because Jesus loves us. (1 John 4:11) By showing love to others, we show them God.
1 John 4:16-19
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement: because as is he, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.
There will be some that will reject the love that we have to give. Don't be afraid of that. They are not really rejecting you, they are rejecting Christ. Love because Jesus loves. He won't ever stop loving us, not ever.
Tear down that wall of fear that keeps you from loving someone else. Let the love of Jesus shine through you.
By showing the world that you are not afraid to love, you are teaching someone else that they can love too.
