A: She was born on February 16, 1960 and grew up in Chicago

A: -Her father, Irving, is a mathematician who taught at the University of Chicago for years; he also writes songs which you may hear Lucy singing at shows

A: Every Single Day was released on Sept 11, 2001

Q: Is Lucy married?

A: She is married to Rick Litvin, a professor at NYU and a songwriter (he co-wrote most of Lucy's songs)

Q: What kind of guitar does Lucy play?

A: She plays a Martin 00-18 that I was made in either 1974 or 1975.

Q: I'm new to this "Lucy world", which album should I buy first?

A: Most fans agree that Ten Year Night is a must, followed by Every Single Day. Flesh and Bone holds a special place in my heart so I have to plug that one....and well the Tide is fantastic as well!! Get them all! Once you become more involved in this world (and it will suck you in-I promise :) ) you'll see as you listen to each album, the progression that has occured and the way Lucy has grown as a musician.

Q: I heard Lucy do "The Swimming Song", what cd is this on?

A: Actually Lucy has not recorded this, it's just a song she does for fun at live shows (that has become a fan favorite!). It's originally a Louden Wainright song. You can see the lyrics here

A: Yes. There are actually 2 different ones.

A: Yep, back when Lucy started playing, her and Shawn would sing together. Actually Shawn produced Lucy's first album, the Tide.

Q: What's the "Lucy Book" project??

A: In honor of the release of Every Single Day, I collected letters, pictures, ticket stubs, interviews and tons more from Lucy's fans across the world (as well as some musical friends), and compiled them into a book which was presented to Lucy on 9/20 at the Bottom Line show. Pictures should be up soon.

Q: What's with all the "good hair day" jokes??

A: Well, as you may have noticed, Lucy has curly hair. And for those of us with curly hair...some days it's hard to tame. But we love her wild curls :)

Q: I heard her play this song "The Song about Pi" (or "That's Mathematics" or "On an Asteroid With You"), where can I find these.

A. These songs were all written by Lucy's dad, Irving Kaplansky, a retired mathematics professor. She does them live every once in a while for us lucky fans. Lyrics to a few of the songs are up here. Hopefully the rest will be up soon along with the sheet music. BR>
