About the Loki Clan Wolf Refuge Inc. -
Even though many states outlaw wolf dogs as pets, people are able to purchase them all around the country. Sadly, many people obtain these creatures without a full understanding of the animal's physical and social needs. Most people are unaware of the magnitude of responsibilities they are taking on when bringing a wolf dog into their home. All too often, the fate of these animals becomes euthanasia. The Loki Clan Wolf Refuge provides a safe haven for wolf dogs where they are able to live out their lives in pack situations. All animals are housed in large, natural enclosures, an ideal life for these special creatures. In addition, all the animals are sterilized.
Fred Keating started taking in animals over 20 years ago when a small pack of wolf dogs lived in his back yard. Soon the organization outgrew his 3 acre lot and was moved deep into the woods of Chatham, New Hampshire. LCWR now cares for over 90 animals which are housed in one acre enclosures.
A lot in Stow, Maine, situated adjacent to the NH facility, provides the utmost security and happiness for all refuge animals. There are now 17 pens located on the Stow side and volunteers are always needed to help build new enclosures or assist with any grounds maintance required to keep the animals comfortable.
How can you help? LCWR needs donations to support daily maintenance. The refuge is actively seeking people to do grant writing and volunteer work. The Loki Clan Wolf Refuge is supported 100% by small grants and private donations. Please help to keep these animals safe by making a donation today.
