Turquoise
Tone and texture
where've you been,
stone of ancestry
long since been.

I touch you and
feel the hurt,
comprised of bones
flesh and dirt.

Our ancestors creat
the stones, and in
our lodge they cleanse
our souls.

Returned to Creator
through the smoke
next morning blue
when our day broke.

They all become the
turquoise stones.

The Heart of Indian Country
There are so many websites and chatrooms hosted by mixbloods who just like anyone else do not allow the TRUE views of natives throughout Turtle Island. We do not discourage mixbloods from starting websites and chatrooms, but they are not Native American Chatrooms if we cannot be ourselves and must bow down to yet another Imperialistic idea. The truth is that most NOT ALL of these native chatrooms are hosted by people who want power over us not wanting to hear our views. Well, we are starting a REAL native chatroom coming soon.

My Story
Now Playing: I am Oglala of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation
Topic: "The Displaced"

On December 29, 1890, between 350 and 500 Lakota Sioux were gunned down by the 7th Cavalry of the American Army at Wounded Knee, which is in now present day South Dakota. Chief Big Foot was shot and frozen in the snow along with many of his people.
Shortly thereafter, the children who were not killed were put on a train headed for Carlisle Indian "Normal" school in the state of Pennsylvania where they were separated from their parents and taught the white ways. Many did not return to the reservation. I am a grandchild of one who did not go home.

THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN OPENS IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

Congratulations to all those whose hard work and dedication resulted in what all Native American Indians can be proud of. Most ethnic groups in the United States have had reparations and/or a museum long before the indigenous peoples of this hemisphere. It is "Better late than never," but we hope that this may somehow clear up some of the prejudices that have plagued our people for hundreds of years.

This Is Indian Country
Now Playing: A Place Where Real Native American Indian Peoples can visit and contribute without Political Retribution from Non-Natives
Topic: Real Native America
This is Indian Country. This is a new place for us which is under development. In the future this site will include many different elements which may be comforting and helpful to the indigenous people of Turtle Island. Welcome!
We would like this place to remain for Real Native Americans. Others may come, but it is advised not to bring hatred or belittling comments into this place.

Pilamayaye,
Toksa
