What We Do

13th Annual NorthEast Regional
JCoS Conference 2-April-2000

M I S S I O N

The mission of the Connecticut Yankee Council Jewish Committee on Scouting (CYC-JCS) is to promote Scouting among Jewish youth, to help Jewish institutions provide opportunities for Jewish youth, to promote Jewish values in Scouting through our annual Kinus, Scout Shabbats, workshops, creation of new Jewish units, and the religious emblems program.

To accomplish our mission, we:

  • Work with potential sponsors of Jewish units to increase their membership and community/youth outreach by starting a Jewish Scouting program.

  • Work with local news media to highlight the benefits of Scouting to the community.

  • Sponsor, Organize, and Promote Jewish Scouting events including:

  • Open doors and strengthen the credibility of Scouting in the Jewish community.

  • Support the Connecticut Yankee Council in its financial efforts

  • Motivate and improve the effectiveness of the individual units

  • Assist Jewish Scouts in receiving a Jewish education
