Woof!!! Woof!!!
(That means "Hi"in Boxer)

I'm "Rebel the Puppy" and ...
I'm so glad you stopped by to visit me.

When I'm outside I'm usually busy chasing squirrels or birds.  It's lots of fun to run and bark. We boxers have to watch our figure, you know.  I'm always watchful of my yard too so that my family stays safe. Most of the time I stay indoors though.  If you want to meet me quick, ring the doorbell. I'm nice once I'm told you're "ok" but understand, I do take my job seriously.

I'm a natural-eared Boxer. (Please don't call me flop-eared!)   Whew!  Thank goodness they didn't lop my ears off and then pin 'em up like some owners do.  I guess I was too old when I was rescued for them to do that.  I'm not sure where my tail went.  One day when I was a wee puppy, I looked back there and it was GONE! I know I HAD one because I used to have lots of fun chasing it! But, that was before... (sigh)

You see, somehow along my way I was either lost or abandoned and was all alone on a deserted stretch of road when Aaron (my best buddy) found me.  I didn't remember when I ate last; I just knew I was HUNGRY! He brought me home to his Mom and she and I fell in love at first site!  He and Mom took me to the lady vet and she said I was real underweight but was healthy considering.  She poked me with lots of sharp needles and looked in   places even I hadn't discovered yet,  but I didn't cry or fuss.

(Boy! Why did she look back THERE! Reckon she was trying to find my tail?)

They took me back to see her every week for a long time to "weigh-in" to make sure I was eating and gaining weight like my breed was supposed to.

We aren't sure exactly when my birthday is but I was rescued the week of Mom's birthday in July, 2001 and the vet said I was seven months old "by the tooth". Mom said she would celebrate my birthday on New Years Day!

Ok, go ahead and laugh!  This is embarrassing but might as well tell all.  You see, I love to be cuddled and I sometimes forget that I'm not one of those little pups that can climb up on a lap when they need a hug.  (Well, I used to fit up there!) Mz. Ronnie caught me in Daddy's lap while she was visiting.  Sometimes, he lets me take a nap if I'm real still.  (yawn). Butch "the big black dog"  gets upset when I do though.  He's my older doggie friend and he's the boss around here.

Now that I'm a "big boy" though I usually have to take a nap on the floor. I sleep under Mom and Dad's bed at night to make sure they stay safe.

Oh yeah, you wanted to meet "Butch - the big black dog" didn't you.  He's a mixed breed of black Labrador Retriever and German Shepherd.   When he was a puppy he looked sorta like this.

Too sweet!

Now, he's an older fellow who's mostly concerned about being clean!  He will be 15 years old in September 2005.  He has arthritis kinda bad so he's not interested in playing much anymore.  But, he sure did teach me the ropes real quick when I first got here. Mom said we had to ask Butch if I could stay.  Well, he took right to me and before you could say "Woof" I was asking to go "outside" like a smart boy!  Now, he spends most of his time just lying around inside where it's cool in the summer and warm in the winter. He gets a hot bath once a week and a pill and rub down every night to help him feel better.

Ok, that's about it for us dogs... just remember there's no "top dog" here.  We each have our own special place in our family.

Come back to see us real soon. We love to have company.

Bye for now... Woof! Woof!
