The Hope Exchange

The Hope Exchange Ministries

Hello to all the Friends of The Hope Exchange. We're glad to have you visit our web site. The Friends of The Hope Exchange are banding together to bring the Austin Community an organization that allows them to get involved in our nations call to reach out to our neighbors and lend a helping hand. President Bush has suggested that our federal funds be spent on defending our country instead of on non-profit organizations! So each member of the nation has been asked to step up to the empty plate and give what they can.

The Hope Exchange is dedicated to helping individuals in Austin, Texas that are struggling to survive in a sometimes inhospitable environment. We are growing in size but have fewer opportunities for people in poverty. Rent, food, cost of living has risen for everyone, but jobs are scarce. Minimum wage doesn't meet the needs of a family. Help us help each other.

Donate non-perishable food or grocery store gift certificates, clean clothing, basic household items, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products or anything you have that someone else might need. We all have items sitting around in storage or left over from our garage sales...box it up and call us!

Donate your time and knowledge to create a job skills training initiative. Start a support group in our facility. Volunteer to help the elderly and infirm.

Allow a person in need to fill a need for you. Our participants can: do yard work, sew, cook, clean, run errands, fill in for a sick employee, do electrical, plumbing, household repairs, paint...any number of things! You can make a donation to the Hope Exchange in exchange for these services on a temporary basis. You might even find a participant you wish to sponsor or hire permenantly.

It takes community involvement to raise awareness and end the age of homelessness and poverty. Let's challenge the "Will Work for Food" theory. Get involved!

We are excited about getting closer to our goals. What are our goals? Read on:

1) To partner with other community programs

2) To offer employment opportunities for all unemployed

3) To offer temporary employees to local individuals and businesses

4) To offer Peer Counseling and Self Improvement Groups

5) To provide spiritual guidance and social awareness

6) To give Hope to the Hopeless, Help to the Helpless and a Hand to our Fellow Man
