12.07.04: see, I told you that I was busy. no new songs up. I just felt like saying hi. The semester is wrapping up and I'm in the process of taking my final exams. I'm looking forward to a pretty impressive GPA too. It'll be nice to go home for a little while, even if Staten Island is dreadfully dull. I love the holiday's but they get me a little down because i'm tremendously poor. I think I have around $150 to buy presents for everyone. Not to mention that that's the only money I have. Which means that after I get people a really crappy gift, I'll be completely poor. Oh well. I've written a good amount more songs since I last updated. Interestingly enough, a decent amount of them are pretty good. They'll be recorded soon. But I mean, that's a relative term. Soon could mean any amount of time. In reality, it means as soon as I get the time to record again. My equipment isn't even hooked up anymore. I'm going home for the holidays and then in early January I'm touring Florida with "The Sounds of Liberty". That means that the next update will proably be in late January. See you then. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. -JonnyK.
9.05.04: well maybe you checked or maybe you didn't yesterday, but i did post those songs that I said I would. sorry it's taken so long. recording opportunities in the last few months have been scarce. there are a lot more songs written and they'll all be recorded in due time but for now, enjoy the new songs.-Jonny K.
9.01.04: Hey again! I just wanted to let you know that (hopefully) on Saturday I'll have three NEW songs for download. They're entitled "All You Want", "It's Been So Long", and "That Is Not What I Intend To Do". they're being mixed right now and one of them might still need some overdubs, but this will be the first song update in quite some time. Just wanted to let you know that i'm trying. have a nice day. -Jonny K.
8.29.04: that was the longest hiatus ever. life has been very busy, frustrating and amazing. let's do a recap of this last four months.
i have left berklee college of music, I now attend Liberty University in Virginia. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and cured of it in the course of one summer. I led the worship/music part of my home church's services. I've written over 15 more songs. I've recorded 2 of them. I learned how to play the bass lines to 50 Beatles tunes. I completely gave up drinking. i lost 10 pounds. i read the New Tesament through Ephesians. I saw the Yankees play Tampa Bay arriving to the game at the bottom of the fifth due to traffic. i've had multiple crushes on girls I will never date. I joined a band called "The Sounds of Liberty" which pays for my entire tuition, room and board. i cut my hair into a faux-hawk. i made all new friends..... again. i lost touch with old ones. I'm single and "on the prowl" . i've been at college for two weeks and i don't have any books yet. i watched half of "Amelie" and then shut it off, not because it's a bad movie but because i was so bored that i could not be entertained. i played music in front of 10,000 people and on national television.
i think that's about it. i don't really think that people check this site very much. at least, i received not one complaint about my abscence. i have a pretty hectic touring schedule these days (i'm actually playing later tonight in Portsmouth Virginia), and i don't know how well i'll keep up the site. or how much recording I'll get done. I've officially given up on being a rockstar. it's quite freeing. that doesn't mean i'm going to stop writing music, it just means that i'm not going to go nuts promoting myself and my "art". if you enjoy the music that's up for download, I'm glad you enjoy it, and thanks for coming. i'll try to update whenever I can next. I think my brother is going to set me up with a web log soon. it won't have music, but it will basically be where i talk like this and upload pictures of my tourdates and various road travelling shennanigins. once again thanks for coming here. i appreciate you immensely. write me at. jonnykisme@yahoo.com if you need to get in touch. goodnight.-Jonny K.
4.27.04: so many new songs have been written, and i'm taking a break from recording (if you haven't noticed). it's just so time consuming and it's my last two weeks of school at Berklee College of Music. some interesting things have happened in the time since i last updated. i purchased two new instruments. a RogueŽ Violin bass (hofner rip-off) that i actually like better than the hofner i played. and a ukulele which i am loving and playing more than the guitar right now. i don't have anything really to tell you guys just that, the new songs i've written this year are the best i've written and i hope to continue writing like this. they'll be recorded as soon as possible. sometime this summer i'd like to change the site up a little bit. it's been in the same format for a few years now. well, we'll see what happens. i think that it's safe to say that i probably won't update till may something something. but when i do, i'd like to have at least one new songs for you guys. in order for you to understand the productivity, last school year i wrote 5 songs, so far this school year i've written 14 and the year ins't over yet. i'm gonna keep writing and i'll record when i can and this site will be the first place to know it. have a wonderful evening. thank you for choosing . -JonnyK.
3.13.04: hey. sorry it's been awhile, midterms week and all. you're lucky you're catching me now. it's about 1:00 in the AM and i'm on a bus to New York at 1:00 in the PM. so i should be getting some beauty rest in the ever near future. No new music. No Really new news, but hey, an update for no reason at all is better than no update at all. which is the only alternative. Well, there's going to be no new songs up for at least a week since I'll be home for that long. but the break is needed and hopefully i'll be supercharged and get some kind of tunes at you in a little while. Thank You So Much for choosing JonnyK. -Jonny
2.28.04: hi there, sorry that it's been awhile. been incredibly busy lately. very spur of the moment-ish i decided that Berklee College of Music is not the place for me. Luckily i figured this out at the last possible moment to make a transfer possible. In the fall, I'll be attending Liberty University in Virginia. I consider myself a city boy so that's going to be a big change. I just felt that I had to go. The reason for all this change though, and the reason why I'm attending Liberty, is that i feel compelled to use my musical talent for God and become a worship music leader at a church. Liberty is a christian school that will give me a grounding in all of this. I know that this information comes out of nowhere and to some people, this might seem kind of weird, but this is who I am. You've come to my site till this point, I hope that you'll still come. Another thing i'm announcing is that some of my new material will reflect this change in me. I will still continue to write songs not dealing with Christianity and spirituality, but there will be some that overtly do. Thank you for your support. I hope that you'll enjoy the new christian and secular songs i'm working on when they come out. Thanks again.-Jonny
2.14.04: Happy Valentine's Day! Better than a box of chocolates, it's a new song! The song "louise" has been around for a while but the only recording that was made was a live one that appeared on the site for a short amount of time back in 2001. This is good version of great song. I hope that you like it. Diary section kaput! if i feel like it, i end up using the news section as my diary section anyway. no point in saying the same thing in two places. Thanks for continuing to visit my site. I appreciate it more than you could ever know.l Goodnight. -Jonny
2.2.04: The two songs "I Can't See You Smiling" and "Step No.2" are up in the mp3 section. Still so many left to get up there. No other updates to speak of.... i don't think. umm.. well, enjoy the tunes. -Jonny
1.29.04(10:18PM): Hey, I finished the design section and cleaned up the links to everything in the menu bar and the links section. Also, all of my previously recorded material is now up for download so take advantage of that while it exists. sometime this weekend i'll have two new songs up there, "What I Am With You" and "Step No. 2". Both are recently written ones too. I have so much back material to record it's ridiculous. in fact, so i don't forget, here are the songs that need to be re-recorded or recorded for the first time: "Boston", "My Time in the Sun", "More Than I Could Tell You", "I Wish I Could Rewind", "I Can't See You Smiling", "Louise", "Carla Rey", "Naive", "The Love Song", and "You Shook Me Up". Ten more songs just to get me up to date? That's awful! oh well, This is a lot to expect of someone to do in their spare time without any compensation. Back to work though. I don't have much else to do.-Jonny
1.29.04(2:57AM): So, so tired. but the design section is up after a week of ridiculous image resizing and late nights writing html. enjoy a little look at all the other work i did while trying to create a fledgling music career. need to sleepy. classes at 11. later. -Jonny
1.25.04: Well, i had my first week of classes and all throughout i've been mixing the new tracks so that they'd be listenable. i hope that you like the old tunes if you're hearing them for the first time, and for the people who've been waiting for new stuff, mixing is pretty much completed. i just need to do a few more things before the tracks are completely ready. a little more work went into getting the design section up but i'm mostly trying to get back into going to school and searching for a job. three new tracks will be up soon. later-Jonny
1.19.04: Hello! Wonderful News! The music is back up on this site. go to the mp3 section and click on the big link at the bottom. That'll send you to where the songs are hosted. i'm working hard on setting up a design page right now. all the art is in the site. i'm just trying to set it up in a coherent fashion. More and more mp3's will be appearing as the week progresses, i just wanted to get something up as fast as i could. There will also be a Presskit section coming soon. In the coming weeks i'm going to start getting shows together in the Boston area as well as sending demo's out to record companies around the country. Wish me luck and enjoy the new material and site revisions.-Jonny
