A Toast to Those Who Are Gone

For each of us there are those people who cross our paths, have an impact, and are gone much too soon.  Some of them have an impact in childhood, some in adulthood; some impact us deeply and irrevocably, some in small ways that are nonetheless never forgotten.  Regardless of what our departed friends have meant to us in life, that meaning transcends beyond their deaths and stays with us in memories.

Here's a toast to those who are gone
With never a reason why
And a drink of the wine
At the end of the line
And a toll of the bell
For the next one to die.
