He was married to Burneile Olinger on August 27, 1927. They farmed during The Depression while raising six children. Later, he drove a rural bread route and a stock truck. He owned and operated a gas station and garage for 13 years, and then worked for Laurence Brothers in Sterling, retiring in 1969.
His wife preceded him in death on February 2, 1985. He lived alone for two years and then moved to Resthave in Morrison. He died January 28, 1991, at Morrison Community Hospital, and funeral services were hald January 31, 1991, at Erie Christian Church.
