Ira Fadden (1821-1906)
Lucinda (Patterson) Fadden (1828-1908)
Ira Fadden was born on Aug. 30, 1821, in Clarenceville, Quebec, Canada.
Lucinda Patterson was born in Clarenceville on Feb. 26, 1828. She was married
to Mr. Fadden on Dec. 31, 1846, in Clarenceville.
The Faddens were
pioneers and cleared heavy timberland, developing the region in which
they lived.
To this union were born 12 children, six boys and six girls. One son
died in infancy. The oldest son, George, came to Sterling, IL, in 1868. He
was later followed by three brothers who settled in Whiteside County.
The youngest son, Charles, brought his parents and youngest sister, Gertrude,
to Illinois in about 1889.
Ira Fadden farmed for about 17 years. They spent their remaining years in the
home of Charles Fadden in Prophetstown. They celebrated their Golden Wedding
Anniversary on Dec. 31, 1896.
Mr. Fadden died on Oct. 13, 1906, and his wife died Feb. 18, 1908.
