Rachel (Neer) Brotherson (1845-1911)
Lizzie Brotherson (1902-1910)

Henry Jackson Brotherson was born in New Bedford, MA, on April 15, 1845, the son of Peter Brotherson and Sarah Littlepage, and the grandson of Peter Brotherson and his wife, Charlotte. The circumstances of his coming to Whiteside County are not known.

Rachael A. Neer was born March 15, 1845 in Ohio. She was married to Henry Jackson Brotherson on Sept. 26, 1867, by D.F. Cole, JP. They farmed in Portland Township. There were five children to the marriage, William Henry Brotherson, Hattie (Brotherson) Glazier, Anna (Brotherson) Blaisdell, Isaac N. Brotherson, and Charlotte (Brotherson) Hansen Lund Whitbeck.

Henry Jackson Brotherson died of blood poisoning on December 13, 1896, after catching his hand in a windmill. His wife died Oct. 8, 1911.

Buried near Mr. and Mrs. Brotherson are Charlotte Whitbeck Lund and her husband, Nissen Lund. Also buried there is Lizzie Brotherson (July 26, 1902-April 27, 1910), the daughter of Isaac N. and Mary Brotherson.
