K Saiberlich and J Rippl On the Press Box Hot Seat

Kris Saiberlich Interview----- Q: You had a pretty solid season a year ago, what did you work on in the off-season to get ready for this year?-- KS: well, i thought about going the easy way and hitting the steroids hard, but instead i hit the weights 4-5 times a week, put on 6 pounds thinking each pound would add another home run, which would double my total from last year to 12.------------ Q: Who on your team is poised for a break-out year?-- KS: well last year it was robby with the break out year, i think this year were looking at more from EJ at the plate, being a former gold glove winner, we told him to work on his swing in the off-season and improve on the .308 he hit last year, i think EJ could be a sleeper at the plate.------------ Q: A-Rod or Pujols?-- KS: A-Rod, plays wherever you need him-------------- Q: Worst player in the FDL Pitching Machine League?-- KS: Im gonna have to go with Casey Wuest, not a bad stick, but your looking at a terrible fielder and a kid who has no idea how to run the bases, let alone the fact that it takes him 5 minutes to get from first base to third base. Casey, stick to fishing buddy!-------------- Q: Who will be this year's Comeback Player Year?-- KS: well, i think this one looks to be a given right now, i like Shawn Bartelt to take home this award, heres a kid whos coming off of an ACL injury a year ago, after doctors thought he wouldnt be able to walk every again, he got out of his wheel chair after one month and hit the rehab, his swing looks great right now and although his speed is a step slower, he appears to be having zero troubles with the knee, this could be an amazing story at the end of the season.-----------------------------------Justin Rippl Interview---------- Q: You had an up-and-down season last year, culminated by being sent back to the minors. Describe how that will motivate you this season.-- JR: It really motivated me to work hard. I lifted rigorously and worked on my swing in the off-season. I paid the big bucks to get Bonds swing coach and really paid off.-------------- Q: You have been played at many different positions in the field. Which do you feel most comfortable with?-- JR: I enjoy playing the position with the least pop-ups because we all know they are not my strong point, so I would probably say I like first base the best.-------------- Q: Who is the most overrated player in the league?-- JR: I’d say the whole young squad is overrated. They put together an all star team and Zakos is their best performer. If you are looking for specifics, Saberlich came into the league with high hopes and thus far has failed himself and his team.-------------- Q: Jeremy Schaap or Tim Kirkjian?-- JR: A dynasty has fallen…The mighty Yankees fall at the hands of Randy Johnson and the Seattle Mariners. Reporting from the Kingdom in Seattle, Jeremy Schaap ESPN. Schaap for sure!----------- Q: How do you think the league can continue to generate more and more fan interest?-- JR: We have the most marketable and well known person in Fond du Lac (Al) not to mention Trav and Bird, I think the league will sell itself.
