I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Phillipians 4:13

Our helplessness can be a healthy sign. This is always a good place to begin a task that seems completely impossible. We are all helpless to change someone else's heart, or our own. We're helpless to manufacture love. We're helpless to mend our own bodies. The greatest physicians and surgeons can only medicate, cut, and repair. In the end nature must do the healing. But there is someone who makes possible what seems completely impossible. Jesus put it succinctly, Without Me, you can do nothing(John 15:5).

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of Him.
1 John 5:14-15

I have found through experiences in my life that the human tendency to ask "Why?" has gotten me nowhere at all. I am certain that other Christians through the centuries have found exactly the same thing. Perhaps one reason for this is that God requires us to have faith in the fact that He really does love us. It is only after we are willing to stand on that and deposit our trust in His love that we begin to get some answers.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6

After the diagnosis of my mothers cancer I went through a period of rebellion. "Is God really involved? Does He care what happens to us as Christians?" Eventually I had to give up and drop my rebellion. This is what we have to do when we don't understand why God allows certain things. We have the choice of rebelling against God the rest of our days or else be humble enough to lay our rebellion down at the Lord's feet, admitting, "I don't understand, but I want you more than I want my screaming rebellion." Only when we humble ourselves before Him is He going to be able to give us any real understanding.

Because HE Lives

GOD Sent HIS SON,
They called HIM JESUS;
HE Came to love, heal and forgive;
HE lived and died
To buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there
To prove my Saviour lives.

Because He lives
I can face tomorrow;
Because HE lives
All fear is gone;
Because I know
HE holds the future,
And life is worth the living
just because HE lives.

How sweet to hold
A new born baby,
And feel the pride,
And joy HE gives;
But greater still
The calm assurance,
This child can face uncertain days
Because HE lives.

And then one day
I'll cross the river;
I'll fight life's
Final war with pain,
And then as death
Gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of Glory
And I'll know HE lives.
