Richard Ridway, Jr., lived but a short time after his marriage and I suppose, on his Springfield farm, near Jobstown, as he will, dated 1718, only sixteen years afeer his marriages, and his death shortly, after, proves. He left a father Richardway of Springfield, his brother Thomas of Little Egg Harbor, and his brother-in-law, Joseph Willits of Little Egg Harbor, his executors, which said executors made a title for 250 acres in Springfield, next to William Fox Dated May 30th, 1719, which property since that time has been called the Fox farm, 154 acres of which Richard Ridgway, Jr., purchased of Jarvis Pharo, March 24th, 1706, 45 l/2 acres of William Vinecomb, January 15, 1715, and the balance of Jhn Antrim, November 15, 1716. Thomas Ridgway, Sr., married Jarvis Pharo's sister, Ann. Jarvis Pharo married Elizabeth, daughter of Hope Willits, and Richard Ridgeway Jr., married Mary, daughter of Hope Willitis and Jseph Willits married Thomas and Richard Ridgeway's siter Elizabeth, thus making acomplegte snarl of brothers-in-law.
Richard Richard, Sr. (Jr. in this case), was one of the judges of he Burlington courts, a position of much imprtance in that early day. This appointment was made in 1701 and continued almost uninterrupted until April, 1720, a period of ninetten years. 1,1 |
