Are you looking for your German ancestors? If so, and they hail from the area known as Hessen Darmstadt - the greatest resource I have found on the web is located here - the introductory page for the HessenGenWeb and the Hessen Website. Thanks to Don Watson, and all of the subscribers - your good natured help and assistance has been invaluable as we go forward on our quest.

And this is where we are currently!
Have just found a film with lots of Feick's and Diehl's in Rimbach (a small village?) to the north of Schlitz. Hopefully we are on to something.
Don - Here are links to some photos as requested - I'm hoping you could look at the first two as a more immediate favour - they are both of the same record - a Johannes Diehl and a Dorothea Feick or could it possibly be Feickin? I've given the second link so you can see the whole page - do I have a listing of marriage banns? If so - the marriage doesn't appear to be on this film and we will have to continue our search. If Dorothea Feick is actually Dorothea Feickin - then we need to re-examine the film - there were numerous Feickins (example shown in the third link) and we skipped right over them as we worked through the film. The other links are for examples only of the different types of handwriting found on the films. I would not ask you to translate them right now - they would come on the CD.
Photo of Johannes Diehl / Dorothea Feick or Feickin?
Photo of Johannes Diehl / Dorothea Feick or Feickin entire page
Photo of example Feickin name (directly above a Diehl)
Photo of a confirmation record - mostly legible
A messier death record - Catherine Diehl nee Diehl
A slightly out of focus photo - there are a few like this - if you cannot read - just let me know and I will attempt to reshoot.
A very thick writer - not to many of these - three or four only
An older record - and I think a different script - several of these
Another different type of script I think
I think that gives a good overview of the styles of writing. I look forward to your respons
