As I look out into the night sky,
I see the stars are starting to fade.
The light that shines from within them slowly slips away.
And I feel the raindrops falling,
As my skin grows cold and damp.
I can almost hear someone crying, in the darkness of the night.
And I look, but there is no one.
Yet the sound stays within my head.
And I search, but there is nothing.
It’s not someone living, but not someone dead.
And they say that sometimes when angels are sad,
Their tears fall like raindrops in the night.
And no one can see them, as their sadness pours out of the night sky.
And it only happens when angels cry.
The wetness chills me to the bone.
And then fear suddenly grips me tight.
Cause in the darkness you’re always alone.
So there’s no use to put up a fight.
And I scream, but no one can hear me.
And the tears flow from my eyes.
And I cry, but no one can see me,
Between the rain and the dead of night.
And they say that sometimes when angels are sad,
Their tears fall like raindrops in the night.
And no one can see them, as their sadness pours out of the night sky.
And it only happens when angels cry.
Can you see my eyes are tearing?
No you can’t because the rain hides them.
But if you could, would take me from this darkness?
And bring me somewhere warm and dry.
As I look out into the night sky, I see the clouds drift away.
And the stars shine to guide me.
When I go home, they’ll help me find my way.
And as I leave, I feel no raindrops.
And my skin that was wet is drying.
And I listen to the silence, for the one who once was crying.
And I look, but there is no one.
What was that sound that was in my mind?
And I search, but there is nothing.
The harder I look, the less I find.
And they say that sometimes when angels are sad,
Their tears fall like raindrops in the night.
And no one can see them, as their sadness pours out of the night sky.
And I’m drenched in the tears that angels cry.
