When I was young I knew what I wanted to be.
I had to be the hero, everyone looking up to me.
Right the wrongs, change things that should not be.
Fight for justice, make everyone happy.
And I want to be a hero,
I want to do what I can.
Don’t want to be just another man.
I want to give all that is of me.
I want to be all I can be.
Growing up in a bad neighborhood,
No one did anything they should.
Drugs and guns were the things that ruled the streets.
Chalk and blood outlined on the concrete.
And I want to be a hero,
I want to do what I can.
Don’t want to be just another man.
I want to give all that’s of me.
I want be all I can be.
When I was older, I relied on my faith.
I had to stop all of the crime; tried to make it safe.
And then the woman who I loved all of my life,
Fell as a victim to some rapist with a knife.
And I want to be a hero,
And do what I can.
Don’t want to be just another man.
And be all I can be.
Oh, if I can’t be hero,
I ain’t worth it to me.
I tracked him as far as I could,
Years of wondering if I did what I should.
I finally gave up, choking my tears back.
I could save anyone but my love from attack.
I don’t want to be a hero.
I’ll do what I can,
I’ll just be another man.
I gave all that was of me.
But, I don't want to be a hero,
It ain’t worth it to me.
I don’t want to be a hero.
