Contests Chandria holds both moonthly--per lunar month, and annual contests. Eligibility differs from one contest to the next, but all contests require members to earn stars. Winners of some contests receive gift certificates to online stores. Please note that both eligibility and awards for contests are subject to change without notice. II.A. Star Sightings Star Sightings is a bi-moonthly contest open to all members who actively participate in the community forum. Star sightings winners are chosen for having posted the most positive, interesting, and activity-generating messages in the community forum since the last announcement. Each winner receives a gold star and a place on the Star Sightings Winners List. Winners are announced at new and full moon, with each receiving a gold star and her place on the Star Sightings Winners List. II.B. Phenomenal Phasework Phenomenal Phasework is a moonthly contest to honor members who post exceptional phasework efforts in the phase forums, as determined primarily by the response from fellow members. There is one forum for each type of phasework, for a total of eight. Members with the most recommended phasework posts each moonth are called out on the Phasework page and receive a gold star in addition to the silver star they have already received for the same post. All members who have received a silver phasework star within the past moonth are entered in the Phenomenal Phasework contest. Winning phaseworks may be considered for book publication. By submitting your phasework to Chandria, you authorize use of your work in any of our electronic and hard copy publications. In the event of a tie, winners will be chosen subjectively based on follow-up responses by the author and how true to task the original post was. Winners from the previous month are not eligible. II.C. Annual Theme Essay and Logo Contest Each December, members submit their ideas for next year's theme, from which one is selected to serve as the theme for the next calendar year. The contributor of the winning theme receives a gold star and has her theme posted throughout the whole next calendar year. Winter solstice (December 21st or 22nd, depending on the year) marks the last day on which a theme may be submitted for consideration, after which the selection process begins. The annual theme is announced on New Year's day (January 1st). Once the annual theme has been announced on January 1st, members are invited to submit a 500-1000 essay on the topic and/or a graphical depiction of the theme in GIF or JPEG format, no more than 400 pixels wide. The contributors of the winning essay and logo will each earn a gold star, have her work posted on the site throughout the year, and receive a gift certificate to Amazon.com. Entries must be received by January 15th and winners will be announced in conjunction with the new moon either at the end of January or the beginning of February. A minimum of eight (8) entries for each contest (i.e. essay and logo) must be received in order for a gift certificate to be awarded. II.D. Miss Chandria Contest Miss Chandria is the annual contest in which we honor the members who have been the most active members throughout the calendar year (1/1-12/31). Winners are announced on New Year's Day (January 1st) of each year. Miss Chandria and the members of her court each win an Amazon.com gift certificate and a seat on the Chandrian Council. The Miss Chandria court is broken down as follows: - Miss Chandria/Miss Full Moon Maiden. This is the member who has earned the most stars overall during the year. Miss Chandria is entitled to write a moonthly column to be posted in the community pages. - Miss Gibbous Moon Maiden. This is the member who has earned the second most stars overall during the course of the year. There are three honor circles open to members of the Moon Maiden Circle: -Stellar Sister Circle -Blue Moon Circle -Penumbrian Honor Circle V.A. Stellar Sister Circle - STR The Stellar Sister Circle is the 1st level honor circle which opens to members of every Moon Maiden degree. The root of "stellar" (Latin: stella) means "star". It means consisting of stars or outstanding. The Stellar Sister Circle consists of star performers. To become a Stellar Sister, all you have to do is earn a total of eight (8) stars. The stars can be of a single color or any combination of colors: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum. V.B. Blue Moon Maiden Circle - BLU A blue moon is the second full moon in a calendar month and a fairly rare occurrence. Moon Maidens who break through the ordinary ranks of members to shine with their active participation are rare like blue moons. For this reason, the 2nd level honor circle open to active Moon Maidens is the Blue Moon Circle. Here are the qualifications to become a Blue Moon Maiden: - 30 days as a Full Moon Maiden (FMN1) - Fundamental Master-You have to have your FUN! - 8 platinum stars or equivalent V.C. Penumbrian Princess Circle - PRS The penumbra is the area where the light and dark areas of an eclipsed moon overlap. To Chandrians, it represents the emergence from darkness into light, or from the unknown into the known. The Penumbrian Honor Circle is the 3rd level honors circle for Moon Maidens. It opens to those members who work to embody Chandrian ideals, strive to be whole and helpful, and emerge from being unknown members into especially active participants, known for their exceptional contribution. To become a Penumbrian Princess, a member must meet these qualifications: - Full Moon Maiden 4 (FMN4) - Ritual Master Conductress-You have to be "RiTC"! - 16 platinum stars or equivalent VI. Other Circles The Moon Maiden Circle of The Chandrian Order opens to all childless and unmarried girls between the ages of 13 and 19. In addition to the Moon Maiden Circle, there are a few other Chandrian Circles you might like to know about. These other circles are for girls and women of age and status outside the requirements for Moon Maidens. Chandrians of other circles include: Moonwards, Moon Moiselles, and Moon Madames. VI.A. Moonward Circle For girls 13-19 who have a child, there is the Moonward Circle. Note that this is to protect the specialness of the term "maiden" which implies a childless state. The Moonward Circle roughly parallels the Moon Maiden Circle. The Moonward Circle is currently under construction. VI.B. Moon Moiselle Circle For unmarried women 20+, there is the Moon Moiselle Circle. When you turn 20, you can join this circle and become a Moon Moiselle, which is a variation on the term "mademoiselle". The Moon Moiselle Circle is currently under construction. VI.C. Moon Madame Circle For married women and women 20+ who have one or more child, there is the Moon Madame Circle. The customs of Moon Madames differ significantly from those of Moon Maidens. Additionally, adult Chandrian mothers can participate in Moon Mother Ring, where they can share the experience of Moon Mother Ring. The Moon Madame Circle is currently under construction.
