Here's my Alcatraz swim photo-log...

Here's me with my friends with whom I did the 1.5 mile swim. It's around 6:30 AM at this point. We had to wake up around 4:30 AM to get there in time.

Here's people filing on the boat to go to Alcatraz.

The boat is on the way. Alcatraz is in the background.

Here's what it was like jumping off the boat – think of paratroopers in World War II, with someone pretty much pushing you out the door with no time to pause. There were a handful of people without wetsuits, one of them pictured here.

Here's in the water soon after jumping off. You can tell it's right off the boat because after a few minutes everyone was much more spread out than this. Most of the swim I felt like I was swimming alone, and my friends said it was the same for them. In fact, there were about 500 swimmers.

Here you can see the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. The swim itself runs roughly parallel to the bridge, so in the middle we had a full-on view to our right.

Here's people coming out of the water.

Here's me coming out of the water. I didn't recognize myself at first in this picture, and the only way I know for sure it's me is by the gear I was wearing.

Here's us after the swim, before heading back home (Alcatraz in the background, just over our heads).

The End.
