CityFolk

Personnel:

John Bell: Guitars, Keyboards, Harmonicas, Backing Vocals, Song Writing

A native of Southwest Ohio, John returned to Ohio from East Tennessee in September 2000. He performed in many coffee houses, bookstores, art festivals and other venues in Knoxville, as a solo, as half of an acoustic duet, and with two local bands. Self taught on many instruments, most prominently guitars and keyboards which he has been playing since the mid-1960's, John prefers the touch-sensitivity of the acoustic guitar. He has worked with several regional bands in Ohio and Tennessee, performed in musical theatre productions, and served as choir accompanist and music director in several churches.

Jennifer Tonapi: Featured Vocals

Jennifer met John in early 2002. She was born in Chicago and raised in Indiana before spending time in Milwaukee and San Francisco. Jennifer has a diverse musical background including musical theatre, and a voice that blends flawlessly with John’s. When she is not singing or working at her “day job” as a SUPERSTAR MOM, she spends her free time mullet hunting.

Donald B. Gibson: Mandolin, Guitar, Percussion, Banjo, Technical Engineering

Also known as “Tweek", Donald describes himself as a “recovering drumaholic who rediscovered his folksy roots several years ago and never looked back.” He has played with bands as diverse as the hard-rocking Subway Conspiracy, original punkers the Left Nutz, the acoustic madmen The Ben Lyde Two, and the homeless gnomes but his real claims to fame are that he has been both shoved by former Coach Woody Hayes and hugged by Woodstock opener Richie Havens.

Donald's side project is an electric band called Long Sunny Day. Visit the Long Sunny Day web site at: http://longsunnyday.angelfire.com/

Sotero Gebara: Drums, Percussion, Vocals

Sotero is originally from Bryan, Texas. Relocated to Columbus from the Dallas area in 2000. Self-taught, began playing professionally as a 9 year old with his father's Tejano band. Sotero's musical resume could fill several pages, spanning diverse styles as: Classic Rock, C&W, Jazz, Motown, Persian, R&B, and Tejano. Since his arrival to Columbus, he has been involved with various projects, including: Larry B. & The Real Deal, Shahab Kamoei Persian Ensemble, Marinucci Jazz Trio, TM-Express, Holly Lynch, Chief Johnny Lonesome, Stacy Lilley, Pryme Tyme, Kenny Kidd, and Coyote Canyon Band performing at well known local, regional establishments and festivals. AKA JohnnyG. Visit his website at: http://www.geocities.com/sjgebara/sjg_schedule.html

Eric Roy: Bass

The newest member of the band, Eric hails from the North side of Columbus, and has played in bands with styles as varies as funk, blues, "muzak" and oldies. He started his musical career as a guitarist but quickly switched to bass when he realized how much a good bass player is more valuable than a guitarist.  Researchers are still investigating his claim to be the first bassist to play a fretless bass in a folk band.

Segio Pabon: Equipment Manager

The band relies heavily upon the strength and skills of Sergio to get the equipment from venue to venue. He is an invaluable member of the CityFolk family and to whom we are eternally indebted. In his free time. Sergio attends OSU, listens to punk rock, and plays bass. He is a gentleman in every sense of the word. He just wakes up later than most of us.
