MATERIALS:

J.& P. COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN. For

Chair Set-1 ball of White or Ecru. or 2 ball of any color. For Runner- 2 balls of White or Ecru, or 3 balls of any color.

Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

GAUGE: 3 sps make 1¼ inches; 3 rows make 1¼ inches.

Chair Back about 10 1/2" x 15 1/2

Arm Pieces about 7 1/2" x 10 1/2"

Runner about 14" x 44"

CHAIR SET

CHAIR BACK . . . Starting at one long side, make a chain 20 inches long (10 ch sts to an inch)

1st row: Tr in 5th ch from hook and in next 3 ch ( bl made) * ch 3, skip 3 ch, tr in next ch (sp made). tr in next 4 ch (bl made). Repeat from * across until there are 19 bls and 18 sps in the row. Cut off remaining ch. Ch 7, turn.

2nd row: Skip 3 tr, tr in next tr (sp made over bl), 3 tr in next sp, tr in text tr (bl made over sp), ch 3, skip 3 tr, tr in next tr (another sp over bl). Continue thus, making bl over sp and sp over bl across, ending with ch 3, tr in top st of turning ch. Ch 4, turn.

3rd row: 3 tr in 1st sp, tr in next tr, (bl made), ch 3, skip 3 tr, tr in next tr (sp made), ch 3, skip 3 ch, tr in next tr (sp over sp ) , make 33 more sps, 3 tr in last sp, tr in 4th st of turning ch. Ch 7. turn.

4th row: 1 sp, 1 bl, 2 sps, 1 bl, 7 sps, 1bl, (3 sps, 1 bl) 3 times, 7 sps, 1 bl, 2 sps, 1 bl, 1 sp. Ch 4. turn.

Starting with 5th row follow the chart to top. Fasten off.

ARM PIECES . . . Starting at short side, make a chain 12 inches long (10 ch sts to an inch) and work as for 1st row of Chair Back until there are 9 bls and 8 sps in the row. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 7, turn and follow chart to top. Fasten off.

RUNNER

Starting at short side, make a chain 20 inches long (10 ch sts to an inch) and work as for 1st row of Chair Back until there are 17 bls and 16 sps in the row. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 7, turn and follow chart to top (A). Now repeat from B to A on chart 17 times (87 rows in all). Now reverse chart and work back from C to bottom. Fasten off.
