Materials: BEST Six CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, Size 30: Big Ball: 33 balls

Steel Crochet Hook No. 10 or 11.

Motif measures about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Tablecloth measures about 62 x 72 inches.

FIRST MOTIF . . . Ch 12. Join with sl st.

1st rnd: Ch 7 (to count as dc and ch-4), dc in ring, (ch 4, dc in ring) 6 times; ch 4, join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-7 (8 sps).

2nd rnd: Ch 3 (to count as dc), * 5 dc in next sp, dc in next dc. Repeat from * around (48 dc). Join with sl st to top of ch-3.

3rd rnd: Ch 3, dc in next 7 dc, ch 5, * dc in next 8 dc, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join (6 groups of dc with ch-5 between groups).

4th rnd: Sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in next 5 dc, * ch 5, sc in loop, ch 5, skip 1 dc, dc in next 6 dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, sc in loop, ch 5. Join.

5th rnd: Sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, * (ch 5, sc in next loop) twice; ch 5, skip 1 dc, dc in next 4 dc. Repeat from * around. Join.

6th rnd: Sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in next dc, * (ch 5, sc in next loop) 3 times; ch 5, skip 1 dc, dc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around. Join.

7th rnd: Sl st between ch-3 and dc, ch 8, * (sc in next loop, ch 5) 4 times; dc between next 2 dc, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-5 to 3rd st of ch-8. Break off.

SECOND MOTIF . . . Work as for First Motif until 6th rnd is complete.

7th rnd: Sl st between ch-3 and dc, ch 8, (sc in next loop, ch 5) 4 times; dc between next 2 dc, (ch 2, sc in corresponding loop on First Motif, ch 2, sc in next loop on Second Motif) 4 times; ch 2, sc in next loop on First Motif, ch 2, dc between next 2 dc on Second Motif. Complete rnd as for First Motif (no more joinings). Break off.

Make 712 motifs and join them as in diagram for joining hexagon motifs having 25 motifs from A to B, and 29 motifs from A to C.

BORDER ... 1st rnd: With right side facing, attach thread to any loop. Ch 3, 3 dc in same loop, then work 4 dc in each loop around. Join.

2nd rnd: Ch 3, make dc in each dc around, increasing 1 dc at each of the outside points of each motif - to inc, make 2 dc in 1 dc-and decreasing 2 dc at joinings of motifs - to dec, skip 2 dc. Join.

3rd and 4th rnds: Repeat 2nd rnd, making increases directly over increases and decreases over decreases of previous rnd. Break off.
