Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 6.

Motif measures 4 inches across.

FIRST MOTIF ... Starting at center, ch 3.

1st rnd: In 2nd ch from hook make (sc, ch 3) 7 times and sc, ch 1, h dc in first sc to form last loop (8 loops).

2nd rnd: Ch 1, sc in loop just formed, * ch 9, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around ending with ch 4, d tr in first sc to form last loop.

3rd rnd: Ch 4, 4 sc in loop just formed, * in next loop make 4 sc, ch 3 and 4 sc. Repeat from * around ending with 4 sc in first loop. Join with sl st to ch-4 loop.

4th rnd: Ch 7, d tr in same ch-4 loop, * ch 6, in 3rd ch from hook make sc, ch 4, sc, ch 2 and sc - clover leaf made; ch 3, in next ch-3 loop make d tr, ch 2 and d tr. Repeat from * around ending with ch 3, join with sl st to 5th ch of starting ch-7. Break off and fasten.

SECOND MOTIF . . . Work exactly as for First Motif until 3rd rnd is completed.

4th rnd: Ch 7, d tr in same ch-4 loop, * ch 6, sc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 1, sl st in center loop of a clover leaf on First Motif, ch 2, in same place as last sc make sc, ch 2 and sc - clover leaf joining made; ch 3, in next ch-3 loop make d tr, ch 2 and d tr. Repeat from * once more; then complete Second Motif same as First Motif (no more joinings).

Make 15 x 19 motifs, joining motifs as Second Motif was joined to First Motif.

FILL-IN MOTIF . . . Ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring.

1st rnd: Ch 1, * sc in ring, ch 5, sl st in sl st of a clover leaf joining on Motif, ch 5, 2 sc in ring, ch 5, sl st in next ch-2 sp on Motif, ch 5, sc in ring. Repeat from * around. Join, break off and fasten.

Starch lightly and press.
