st rnd: Ch 3, 23 dc in ring. Join to top of ch-3 (24 dc, counting ch-3 as 1 dc).
nd rnd: Ch 3, skip joining, 2 dc in next dc (1 dc increased), dc in next dc (leaf started); (ch 2, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc - another leaf started) 7 times; ch 2. Join as before (8 leaves).
rd rnd: Ch 3, dc in joining (1 dc increased at beg of first leaf), dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in last dc of leaf, ch 2, (2 dc in first dc of leaf, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in last dc of leaf) 7 times; ch 2. Join.
Next 3 rnds: Ch 3, (increasing 1 dc at both ends, dc in each dc of leaf, ch 2) 8 times. Join (12 dc in each leaf on 6th rnd).
th rnd: Ch 3, skip joining, * dc in each dc of leaf to within last 2 dc, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, dc in last 2 dc, thread over and draw through all 3 loops on hook (1 dc decreased); ch 3, in next sp make dc, ch 5 and dc (corner made); ch 3, decreasing 1 dc at both ends of leaf, dc in each dc across leaf; ch 3, dec 1 dc over first 2 dc of next leaf. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, skip first ch-3, sl st in next dc to decrease first st of first leaf (1 dc decreased at both ends of each leaf).
th rnd: Ch 3, skip joining, * work across leaf as for 7th rnd, ch 3, dc in next dc, ch 3, in corner loop make dc, ch 5 and dc; ch 3, dc in next dc, ch 3, work across leaf as for 7th rnd, ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 5. Repeat from * around, ending with dec first st of first leaf as on 7th rnd.
th rnd: Ch 3, skip joining, * work across leaf as for 7th rnd; ch 3, (dc in next dc, ch 3) twice; holding back last loops as for a dec, make 3 tr in corner loop, thread over and draw through all 4 loops on hook (cluster made), ch 5, 3-tr cluster in same corner loop, ch 3, (dc in next dc, ch 3) twice; work across leaf as for 7th rnd; ch 5, (sc in next loop, ch 5) twice. Repeat from * around, completing first leaf as on 7th rnd (6 sts remain in each leaf).
th rnd: Ch 3, skip joining, * work across leaf as for 7th rnd, ch 3, (dc in next dc, ch 3) twice, cluster in tip of next cluster, ch 5, in corner loop make (cluster, ch 5) twice; cluster in tip of next cluster, ch 3, (dc in next dc, ch 3) twice; work across leaf as on 7th rnd, ch 5, (sc in next loop, ch 5) 3 times. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, skip first ch-3, dc in next dc to form last loop.
th rnd: Ch 1, sc in loop just formed, * holding back last loops as before, dc in each of the 4 remaining leaf sts, complete cluster as before; ch 7, holding back last loops, as before, tr in next 2 dc, thread over and draw through all 3 loops on hook (joint tr made); ch 7, sc between next 2 clusters, ch 7, in corner loop make sc, ch 11 and sc; ** (reference for ** will be found on 11th rnd under Second Motif); ch 7, sc between next 2 clusters, ch 7, make a joint tr over next 2 dc, ch 7, 4-dc cluster over remaining 4 leaf sts, ch 5, (sc in next loop, ch 5) 4 times. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5. Join, break off and fasten.
SECOND MOTIF . . . Work exactly as for First Motif until 10 rnds have been completed.
