ROYAL SOCIETY SIX CORD CORDICHET, Large Ball, Size 20: 3 balls of White or Ecru.

Steel Crochet Hook No. 10.

Centerpiece measures 13 3/4 inches square; each Place Mat 11 1/4 inches square; each Bread and Butter Mat 5 1/4 inches square and each Glass Mat 4 1/4 inches square.

CENTERPIECE . . . Starting at lower edge, make a chain 15 inches long (13 ch sts to 1 inch).

1st row: Sc in 9th ch from hook, * ch 3, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch, ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 3, skip 2 ch, dc in last ch. Ch 10, turn.

2nd row: * Dc in next dc, ch 7. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 7, dc in 5th st of turning chain. Ch 6, turn.

3rd row: * Skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, dc in next dc, ch 3. Repeat from * across to ch-10 loop, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 3 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 6, turn.

4th row: * Sc in next sc, ch 3, dc in next dc, ch 3. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in next sc, ch 3, skip 4 ch of turning chain, dc in next ch. Ch 10, turn.

Repeat 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows alternately until piece measures 13 1/2 inches, ending with 3rd row.

EDGING: Ch 3, dc in each st around, making 5 dc in each corner. Sl st in top of ch-3. Break off.

PLACE MAT (Make 2) ... Starting at lower edge, make a chain 12 inches long (13 ch sts to 1 inch). Work as for Centerpiece until piece measures 10 3/4 inches, ending with 3rd row. Complete as for Centerpiece.

BREAD and BUTTER MAT (Make 2) . . . Starting at lower edge, make a chain 6 inches long (13 ch sts to 1 inch). Work as for Centerpiece until piece measures 4 3/4 inches, ending with 3rd row. Complete as for Centerpiece.

GLASS MAT (Make 2) ... Starting at lower edge, make a chain 4 1/2 inches long (13 ch sts to 1 inch). Work as for Centerpiece until piece measures 3 3/4 inches, ending with 3rd row. Complete as for Centerpiece.
