FIRST MOTIF . . . Starting at center, ch 10.

1st rnd: Dc in 10th ch from hook. (ch 6, dc in same ch) 4 times; ch 6, skip 2 ch of ch-10, sl st in next ch.

2nd rnd: Sl st in next sp, ch 4, in same sp make 2 tr, ch 5 and 3 tr; * in next sp make 3 tr, ch 5 and 3 tr. Repeat from * around. Join.

3rd rnd: Ch 4, tr in next 2 tr, * in next sp make 2 tr, ch 5 and 2 tr; tr in next 6 tr. Repeat from * around. Join.

4th rnd: Ch 4, tr in next 4 tr, * ch 1, in next sp make (tr, ch 1) 5 times; tr in next 10 tr. Repeat from * around. Join.

5th rnd: Ch 4, tr in next 3 tr, * (ch 1, tr in next sp) 3 times; ch 1, in next tr make tr, ch 1 and tr; (ch 1, tr in next sp) 3 times; ch 1, skip 1 tr, tr in next 8 tr. Repeat from * around. Join.

6th rnd: Ch 4, tr in next 2 tr, * (ch 1, tr in next sp) 4 times; ch 1, in next sp make (tr, ch 1) 3 times; (tr in next sp, ch 1) 4 times; skip 1 tr, tr in next 6 tr. Repeat from * around. Join.

7th rnd: Ch 4, tr in next tr, * ch 10, skip 3 sps, sc in next sp, ch 8, skip 2 tr, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr, make 3 tr in next tr, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made); ch 8, cluster in same tr, ch 8, skip 2 sps, sc in next sp, ch 10, skip 4 tr, make a 4-tr cluster over next 4 tr. Repeat from * around, ending with 2-tr cluster in last 2 tr. Join and break off.

SECOND MOTIF . . . Work as for First Motif until 6 rnds are completed.

7th rnd: Ch 4, tr in next tr, ch 10, skip 3 sps, sc in next sp, ch 8, skip 2 tr, cluster in next tr, ch 4, sl st in corresponding loop on First Motif, ch 4, cluster in same tr on Second Motif, ch 4, sl st in corresponding loop on First Motif, ch 4, skip 2 sps, sc in next sp on Second Motif, ch 5, sl st in corresponding loop on First Motif, ch 5, skip 4 tr, cluster over next 4 tr. Join next 2 loops and next corner loop the same way. Complete rnd (no more joinings).

Make 427 motifs, joining adjacent sides as Second Motif was joined to First Motif, alternating 1 row of 22 motifs and 1 row of 23 motifs until 19 rows are completed.

EDGING . . . Attach thread to any joining along side, 2 sc in same sp, ch 3, sc in tip of next cluster, ch 4, sc in 4th ch from hook (picot made), * (ch 3, 4 sc in next sp) twice; ch 3, sc in tip of next cluster, picot. Repeat from * around, making picots over clusters and having 2 sc in each sp at joinings. Join and break off.
