MATERIALS: J. & P. COATS OR CLARK'S O.N.T. PEARL COTTON, Size 5

12 balls of White and 2 balls each of Red, Green, Orange and Blue

Steel Crochet Hook No. 4.

Use 2 threads throughout (1 thread from each of 2 balls).

With White make a chain 14 inches long.

1st row: Sc in 3rd ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across until row measures 11 inches. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 2, turn.

2nd row: Sc in next ch-1 sp, * ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last sp (formed by turning chain). Ch 2, turn.

Repeat the 2nd row until piece measures 11 inches. Drop White.

BORDER . . . Attach Red and continue in pattern, making 2 rows of Red, 2 White, 2 Green, 2 White, 2 Orange, 2 White, 2 Blue and 4 rows of White. Break off. Attach Red to opposite side and repeat border once more.
