Coats Mercer-Crochet No. 30. 4 balls. This model is worked in shade (Lt. Ecru), but any other shade of Mercer-Crochet may be used.

Milwards steel crochet hook No. 10.

Tension: 3 1/2 sps and 3 1/2 rows = l in. (approx.)

Measurements: 14 1/2 in. X 22 1/2 in. (approx.)

Ch-chain.

Sp - space = 3 ch, miss 3 ch or tr, tr into next ch or tr.

Blk - block = 5 tr, plus 4 tr for each additional bik in group.

Cross == Miss 2 sts, 1 tr into next st, 1 ch, inserting hook from behind last tr work 1 tr into first of 2 sts missed.

3 tr cluster = Leaving the last loop of each on hook work 3 tr into next st, thread over and draw through all loops on hook.

Cluster bar = 4 ch, a 2 tr cluster into 4th ch from hook.

Diamond cluster = A 3 tr cluster, (4 ch, a 2 tr cluster into 4th ch from hook) twice, a 3 tr cluster into same place as first 3 tr cluster.

Commence with 4 ch, leaving the last loop of each on hook work 2 tr into 4th ch from hook, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (a 2 tr cluster made), * 4 ch, a 2 tr cluster into 4th ch from hook; repeat from * 53 times more.(55 clusters.)

1st Row: 3 ch, miss one cluster, 1 tr into same ch as next cluster (sp made), * 3 ch, 1 tr into same ch as next cluster; repeat from * 51 times more, 3 ch, a 3 tr cluster into first ch made (54 sps), 4 ch, turn.

2nd Row: A 2 tr cluster into top of first cluster, 3 ch, 1 tr into next tr (sp made over sp), (3 tr into next sp, 1 tr into next tr) 52 times (52 blks made over 52 sps), 3 ch, a 3 tr cluster into next cluster, 4 ch, turn.

3rd Row; A 2 tr cluster into top of first cluster, 1 sp, 1 tr into each of next 4 tr (blk made over blk), miss 3 tr, a 3 tr cluster into next tr, (4 ch, a 2 tr cluster into 4th ch from hook) twice, a 3 tr cluster into same place as last 3 tr cluster (a diamond cluster made), miss 3 tr, 1 tr into next tr, 4 ch, a 2 tr cluster into 4th ch from hook (a cluster bar), miss 3 tr, 1 tr into next tr, (3 ch, miss 3 tr, 1 tr into next tr) 4 times (4 sps made over 4 blks), 1 cluster bar, miss 3 tr, 1 tr into next tr, miss 3 tr, (a diamond cluster into next tr, miss 3 tr, 1 tr into next tr) twice, 2 blks, miss 3 tr, (a diamond cluster into next tr, miss 3 tr, 1 tr into next tr) twice, 1 cluster bar, miss 3 tr, 1 tr into next tr, follow diagram to end of row, 4 ch, turn.

4th Row: A 2 tr cluster into top of first cluster, 1 sp, 1 blk, 3 ch, 1 sc into centre ch of diamond, 3 ch, 1 tr into next tr, 6 sps, (3 ch, 1 sc into centre ch of next diamond, 3 ch, 1 tr into next tr) twice, 2 blks, follow diagram to end of row.

Now follow diagram to top. Turn diagram and omitting last 2 rows follow diagram back to first row. Fasten off.

Damp and pin out to measurements.
