Approximate Size: 48 inches wide, 65 inches long.

MATERIALS:

Worsted (4-oz. skeins)

4 skeins Yale Blue (color A)

4 skeins Blue (color B)

4 skeins Baby Blue (color C)

Total amount of yarn: 48 ounces

1 plastic crochet hook size 8

Gauge: 4 sts = l inch

NOTE: This afghan is worked in one piece. It is not necessary to break the yarn when changing colors.

Starting at narrow end with color A, chain 166. (On a multiple of 6 chains plus 4.)

Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook (this ch-3 counts as one dc) and in next ch, * ch 3, skip 3 ch, dc in each of next 3 ch. Repeat from * across until row measures 48 inches, ending with ch 3, skip 3 ch, dc in each of last 3 ch. Turn. Attach color B.

Row 2: Sc in first dc, ch 2, * working over ch-3, dc in each of next 3 ch of starting chain. ch 3, skip next 3 dc, Repeat from * across, ending with ch 2, sc in top of turning chain-3. Turn. Attach color C.

Row 3: Ch 3, working over ch-2, dc in each of next 2 dc, * ch 3, working over next ch-3, dc in each of next 3 dc directly below. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 3, dc in each of next 2 dc, dc in sc. Turn.

Pick up color A.

Row 4: Sc in first dc, ch 2, * working over ch 3, dc in each of 3 dc directly below, ch 3. Repeat from across, ending ch 2, sc in last dc.

Repeat rows 3 and 4 for pattern, changing colors every row.

Work straight until afghan measures 64 inches. ending with color C and row 3 of pattern.

Last Row: With color A, sc in each of first 3 dc, * dc in each of next 3 dc directly below ch-3, sc in 3 dc of previous row. Repeat from across, ending sc in each of last 3 dc.

FINISHING: Run in all ends using a darning needle. Stretch or shape afghan according to required measurements. Press lightly with a steam iron or over a damp cloth without using the weight of the iron. With color A, work 1 row sc along all edges except across last row.
