MATERIALS: CLARK'S ANCHOR CRONITA: 55 balls of White or Ecru or 74 of Beige, shade 84.

STEEL CROCHET HOOK No. 8.

Bedspread (single size only) measures about 74 x 97 inches.

GAUGE: 3 sps (or bls) make 1 1/4 inches; 3 rows make 1 1/4 inches.

Square measures about 24 x 24 inches.

SQUARE . . . Starting at center, ch 14. Join with sl st to form ring.

1st rnd: Ch 4 (to count as tr), 4 tr in ring, (ch 7, 5 tr in ring) 3 times; ch 3, tr in 4th st of ch-4.

2nd rnd: Ch 4, 3 tr in next sp, tr in top st of ch-4 below, tr in next 4 tr, * 4 tr in next sp, ch 7, 4 tr in same sp, tr in next 5 tr. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, tr in 4th st of ch-4.

3rd rnd: Ch 4, 3 tr in next sp, tr in top st of ch-4 below, tr in next 12 tr, * 4 tr in next sp, ch 7, 4 tr in same sp, tr in next 13 tr. Repeat from * around. Join as before.

4th rnd; Ch 4, 3 tr in next sp, tr in top of ch-4 below, * (ch 3, skip 3 sts, tr in next tr) twice; tr in next 4 tr, (ch 3, skip 3 sts, tr in next tr) twice; 4 tr in next sp, ch 7, tr in same sp, tr in next tr. Repeat from * around. Join.

Starting at 5th rnd (marked with X), follow chart until square is completed, making ch 3 for sps and ch 7 for corner sps and joining each round as before. Fasten off.

Make 3 x 4 blocks and sew them together on wrong side with neat over-and-over sts.

EDGING . . . Attach thread to edge, ch 4 and work 3 rnds of tr, being careful to keep work flat and turning corners same as on squares. Fasten off. Block to measurements given.
