Note: Directions and requirements are given for a 72" x 91" table cloth, in D'M'C Crochet Superba, Art. 163 (size 30 or size 40, white, ecru or ivory. Size 30 also in colors).

The same pattern may be made into all sizes of banquet cloths and bedspreads as well as luncheon set, chair set, buffet set or scarf as you desire.

MATERIALS-D-M-C Crochet Superba, Art. 163;

Size 30 or Size 40, White, Ecru or Ivory, 69 balls (Size 30, Colors, 76 balls).

Steel Crochet Hook, Size 12.

Notes

(1): Picot-ch t, slip st in 5th st from hook.

(2): Petal-yo twice, draw up a loop in st, [y/o, thru 2 loops] twice, * yo twice, draw up a loop in same st, [_yo thru 2 loops] twice; rpt from STAR once, yo, thru all 4 loops on hook.

LARGE MOTIF (Make 616)-Center Square-Ch 20, 1 dc in 8th ch from hook, work [ch 2, 1 dc] all in every 3rd ch across; (5 sps in row).

Row 2-Ch 5, turn, 1 dc in 2nd dc, [ch 2, 1 dc] all in each remaining dc, ch 2, 1 dc in 3rd ch; (5 sps in row).

Rpt row 2 three times.

Rnd 1 (right side)-Ch 13, slip st in 10th ch from hook, working around Center Square, 4 dc in corner sp, a group of 3 dc in each of next 3 sps, * work a Corner Group of [5 dc, ch 9, slip st in 10th st from hook, 4 dc] all in next corner sp, a group of 3 dc in each of next 3 sps; rpt from STAR around; end, 4 more dc in first corner sp, join (with slip st) in 4th ch of ch-13.

Rnd 2-Turn, skip joined st, slip st to and including center dc of first 3-dc group after Comer Group, turn, * ch 2, work a Shell of [9 tr with ch 2 between each tr] in next corner Loop, ch 2, slip st in 2nd dc of first 3-dc group after Corner Group, slip st in each of next 6 dc; rpt from STAR around, fasten off (Work must measure 1 1/8 ins. square).

Rnd 3-Make a loop on hook, from right side, 1 dc in center tr of any Shell, * work a Picot (see Note 1, above), 3 dc in next sp, [2 dc, ch 1 (Eye), 2 dc] all in next sp, 3 dc in next sp, 1 hdc in next tr, 3 dc in each of next 2 sps, slip st in center st of next 7 slip sts, 3 dc in each of first 2 sps of next Shell, 1 hdc in next tr, ch 8, drop loop from hook, draw this loop thru hdc of previous Shell, ch 1, 9 sc in ch-8 sp just made, slip st in top of hdc, 3 dc in next sp on Shell, 2 dc in next sp, ch 7, turn, skip first 2 sc, work a Petal (see Note 2) in next sc, ch 7, skip 1 sc, a Petal in next sc, ch 7, skip 1 sc, a Petal in next sc, ch 7, slip st in Eye of next Shell, ch 1, turn, [5 sc, a Picot, 4 sc] all in each of next 4 ch-7 sps, slip st in last dc made, 2 more dc in same sp as last dc, 3 dc in next sp, 1 dc in next tr; rpt from STAR around, in last rpt omit last dc, join in first dc, fasten off (Motif must measure 3 1/4 ins. across center from Picot to Picot).

Rnd 3- Ch 1, [1 sc, ch 5, a Petal, ch 5, 1 sc] all in joining Loop, [ch 6, 1 sc, ch 5, a Petal, ch 5, 1 sc] all in each remaining Loop; to join, ch 3, 1 dc in first sc.

Rnd 4-Ch 1, 1 sc in joining Loop, ch 7, 1 sc in top of next Petal, * ch 7, 1 sc in next ch-6 Loop, ch 7, 1 sc in top of next Petal; rpt from STAR around; to join, ch 3, 1 tr in first sc.

Rnd 5-Ch 1, 1 sc in joining Loop, * ch 10, slip st in last sc made, ch 7, slip st in 4th ch from hook, ch 3, 1 sc in next Loop; rpt from STAR around, joining in first sc, fasten off (Motif must measure 2-ins. across center from Picot to Picot). Arrange and tack Motifs (22 Large x 28 Large) together firmly as indicated on diagram.
