Steel Crochet Hook, No. 7.

GAUGE: 3 sps make 1 inch; 3 rows make 1 inch.

STRIP . . . Ch 102

1st row: Sc in 10th ch from hook, ch 3, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch (lacet made), ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch (another lacet made); make 3 more lacets, dc in next 6 ch (2 bls made); ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch (sp made), make 2 more sps, dc in next 3 dc (bl made), (3 sps, 1 bl) twice; 2 sps, 2 bls, 2 lacets. Ch 8, turn.

2nd row: Dc in next dc (bar made), ch 5, dc in next dc (another bar made), dc in next 6 dc (2 bls made over 2 bls), ch 2, dc in next dc (sp made over sp), 1 more sp, ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc (sp made over bl). 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc (bl made over sp), (3 sps, 1 bl) twice; 2 sps, 2 bis, 4 bars, ch 5, dc in 4th ch of turning chain. Ch 6, turn.

3rd row: Sc in center ch of bar, ch 3, dc in next dc (lacet made over bar), make 4 more lacets, ch 3, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc (lacet made over 2 bls), 2 bls, (3 sps, 1 bl) 3 times; 2 sps, 5 dc under bar, dc in next dc (2 bls made over bar), ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 8, turn.

4th row: 1 bar, 2 bls, (3 sps, 1 bl) 3 times; 2 sps, 2 bls; 6 bars. Ch 6, turn.

5th row: 7 lacets, 2 bls, (3 sps, 1 bl) 3 times; 2 sps, 2 bls. Ch 3, turn.

6th row: 2 bls, (3 sps, 1 bl) 3 times; 2 sps, 2 bls, 7 bars. Ch 6, turn.

7th row: 8 lacets, 2 bls, (3 sps, 1 bl) 3 times; 2 sps. Ch 5, turn.

8th row: (3 sps, 1 bl) 3 times; 2 sps, 2 bls, 8 bars. Ch 6, turn.

Starting at the 9th row, follow chart to top (this completes one pattern). Make 4 more patterns and break off.

For Single Size Spread, make 6 strips. For Double Size Spread, make 8 strips. Sew strips neatly together, having corresponding parts of design meet (see picture).

EDGING . . . Attach thread to a sp, sc in same sp, ch 3, sl st in last sc (picot made), sc in same sp. In each sp or bl around make sc, picot and sc. Join and break off.
