Materials: BEST Six CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, Size 30:

Small Ball: 6 balls

Steel Crochet Hook No. 10 or 11.

Large doily measures about 15 inches in diameter; small doily measures 9 inches in diameter.

LARGE DOILY . . . Ch 8, join with sl st.

1st rnd: Ch 1, 12 sc in ring. Sl st in 1st sc made.

2nd rnd: Ch 5, * dc in next sc, ch 2. Repeat from * around, ending with sl st in 3rd st of ch-5.

3rd rnd: Ch 4, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr, make 2 tr in same place as sl st, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made), * ch 4, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr make 3 tr in next dc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (a 3-tr cluster made). Repeat from * around, ending with ch 4, sl st in tip of 1st cluster.

4th rnd: Ch 7, * tr in next sp, ch 3, tr in tip of next cluster, ch 3. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, tr in last sp, ch 3, sl st in 4th st of ch-7.

5th rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, * ch 10, sc in next tr, 2 sc in sp, sc in next tr. Repeat from * around, ending with sl st in 1st sc made.

6th rnd: * In next loop make sc, half dc and 8 dc; make 3 p's - to make a p, ch 5, sl st in 5th ch from hook-; ch 3, make 3 more p's, sl st in last dc made; in same ch-10 loop make 8 dc, half dc and sc; skip 1 sc, sl st in each of next 2 sc. Repeat from * around (12 picot-loops in all). Join and break off.

7th rnd: Attach thread in tip of any picot-loop, ch 6, dc in same place where thread was attached, * ch 13, in tip of next picot-loop make dc, ch 3 and dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 13, sl st in 3rd st of ch-6.

8th rnd: Ch 1, 3 sc in 1st sp, * 17 sc over next ch-13, 3 sc in next ch-3 sp. Repeat from * around, ending with 17 sc over last ch-13. Join with sl st.

9th rnd: Sl st in next sc (center of 3-sc group), ch 6, dc in same place as sl st, * ch 7, in center sc of next sp make dc, ch 3 and dc; ch 7, in center sc of next 3-sc group make dc, ch 3 and dc. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st as before.

10th rnd: Ch 1, * 3 sc in next ch-3 sp, 7 sc in next sp. Repeat from * around. Join as before.

11th rnd: Sl st in next sc, ch 6, dc in same place as sl st, * ch 8, in center st of next 3-sc group make dc, ch 3 and dc. Repeat from * around. Join.

12th rnd: Repeat 10th rnd, only having 8 sc over ch-8.

13th rnd: Repeat 11th rnd, only making ch 9 instead of ch-8.

14th rnd: Repeat 10th rnd, only having 9 sc over ch-9.

15th rnd: Repeat 11th rnd, only making ch 10 instead of ch-8.

16th rnd: Repeat 10th rnd, only having 11 sc over ch-10.

17th rnd: Sl st in next sc, ch 4, * skip 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 1. Repeat from * ending with sl st in 3rd st of ch-4.

18th rnd: Ch 4, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr make 2 tr in same place as sl st, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made), * ch 4, skip next dc, in next dc make a 3-tr cluster. Repeat from * around, ending with ch-4, sl st in tip of 1st cluster.

19th rnd: Ch 9, * tr in tip of next cluster, ch 5. Repeat from * ending with sl st in 4th st of ch-9.

20th rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, * ch 10, sc in next tr, (4 sc in ch-5 sp, sc in next tr) twice. Repeat from * around, ending with sl st in 1st sc. 21st rnd: Sl st in ch-10 loop, ch 3, 9 dc in same loop, * make 3 p's, ch 3 and 3 p's, sl st in last dc made, 10 dc in same ch-10 loop, skip 4 sc, sc in next 3 sc, 10 dc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with sl st in top st of starting ch-3. Join and break off.

22nd to 29th rnds incl: Repeat 7th to 14th rnds incl.

30th and 31st rnds: Repeat 13th and 14th rnds.

32nd to 35th rnds incl: Repeat 17th to 20th rnds incl.

36th rnd: Sl st in ch-10 loop, ch 3, 19 dc in same loop, * skip 4 sc, sc in next 3 sc, 20 dc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

SMALL DOILY (Make 2) ... Work as for Large Doily to 20th rnd incl.

Last rnd: Work as for last rnd of Large Doily.
