Gauge: Each large motif should measure 4 inches in diameter.

LARGE MOTIF-Ch 11, join with a slip at into a ring.

1st round: ch 5, thread 3 times over hook, draw up a loop in ring, thread over and through 2 loops 3 times in succession, retaining the 2 loops now on hook, thread 3 times over hook, draw up a 2nd loop in ring, thread over and through 2 loops 3 times in succession, thread over and through remaining 3 loops on hook, ch 6, work 1 s c. in ring (a long treble petal at beginning of round), * ch 6, thread 3 times over hook, draw up a loop in ring, over and through 2 loops 3 times in succession, retaining the 2 loops now on hook, thread 3 times over hook, draw up a 2nd loop in ring, over and through 2 loops 3 times in succession, retaining the 3 loops now on hook, thread 3 times over hook, draw up a 3rd loop in ring, over and through 2 loops 3 times in succession, thread over and through remaining 4 loops now on hook, ch 6, work 1 s c in ring (a long treble petal); repeat from * 6 times, ch 6, work a slip st in top of petal at beginning of round.

2nd round: ch 1, work 1 s c in same place as last slip st, * ch 6, 1 s c in top of next petal; repeat from * around, end with ch 6, join with a slip st in first s c of round.

3rd round: ch 1, 1 s c in joining st, * ch 4, work a slip st in 4th st from hook (picot), ch 5, a 2nd picot, ch 5, a 3rd picot, ch 9, a 4th picot, slip st in st left free between the 3rd and 2nd picots made, ch 4, a 5th picot, slip st in st left free between the 2nd and 1st picots made, ch 4, a 6th picot, slip st in last s c made before picots (a 6-picot loop), 6 s c in next space, a 6-picot loop, 5 s c in same space, 1 s c in next s c; repeat from * around, end with 5 s c in last space, after last 6-picot loop in space, join with a slip st in first s c of round and fasten off thread (sixteen 6-picot loops in round).

5th round: ch 1, 1 s c in joining st below, † 8 s c in next space; ch 1, turn, work 1 s c in each of the 9 s c in short row below; * ch 1, turn, skip first s c, 1 s c in each s c to end of short row below, thus decreasing at beginning of row; repeat from * until there is only 1 st left in row and fasten off thread.
