MATERIALS: J. & P. COATS' Six CORD MEBCER-CROCHET, Size 30: (BLUE LABEL) 80 balls of White, or

100 of Ecru or of any color. (GBEKN. LABEL) : 27 balls of White or Ecru;

STEEL CROCHET HOOK No. 10 or 11.

GAUGE: Motif measures about 2 1/2 inches in diameter.

Completed tablecloth measures about 54 x 72 inches.

FIRST MOTIF . . . Starting at center, ch 12, join with sl st.

1st rnd: Ch 7 (to count as dc and ch-4), dc in ring, (ch 4, dc in ring) 6 times; ch 4, join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-7 (8 sps).

2nd rnd: Ch 3 (to count as dc), * 5 dc in next sp, dc in next dc. Repeat from * around (48 dc). Join with sl st to top of ch-3.

3rd rnd: Ch 3, dc in next 7 dc, ch 5, * dc in next 8 dc, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join as before (6 groups of dc, with ch-5 between groups).

4th rnd: Sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in next 5 dc, * ch 5, sc in loop, ch 5, skip 1 dc, dc in next 6 dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, sc in loop, ch 5. Join as before (2 loops between groups).

5th rnd: Sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in next 3 dc,* (ch 5, sc in next loop) twice; ch 5, skip 1 dc, dc in next 4 dc. Repeat from * around. Join.

6th rnd: Sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in next dc, * (ch 5, sc in next loop) 3 times; ch 5, skip 1 dc, dc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around. Join.

7th rnd: Sc between ch-3 and dc, ch 8, * (sc in next loop, ch 5) 4 times; dc between next 2 dc, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-5 to 3rd st

of ch-8. Fasten off.

SECOND MOTIF . . . Work as for 1st motif to 6th rnd incl.

7th rnd: Sc between ch-3 and dc, ch 8, (sc in next loop, ch 5) 4 times; dc between next 2 dc, (ch 2, sc in corresponding loop on 1st motif, ch 2, sc in next loop on 2nd motif) 4 times; ch 2, sc in next loop on 1st motif, ch 2, dc between next 2 dc on 2nd motif. Complete rnd as for 1st motif (no more joinings). Fasten off. Make 712 motifs and join them as in diagram for joining hexagon motifs, having 25 motifs from A to B, and 29 motifs from A to C.

BORDER . . . 1st rnd; With right side of work toward you, attach thread to any loop. Ch 3, 3 dc in same loop, then work 4 dc in each loop around. Join

2nd rnd: Ch 3, make dc in each dc around, increasing 1 dc at each of the outside points of each motif-to inc, make 2 dc in 1 dc; and decreasing 2 dc at joinings of motifs-to dec, skip & dc. Join.

3rd and 4th rnds: Same as 2nd rnd making increases directly over increases, and decreases over decreases of previous rnd. At end of 4th rnd, fasten off.
