MATERIALS: J. & P. COATS' Six CORD MERCER-CROCHET, Size 20:

(BLUE LABEL) 41 balls of White, or 68 of Ecru.

(GREEN LABEL) 14 balls of White or Ecru.

STEEL CROCHET HOOK No. 8 or 9.

Make a chain about 2 yards long (13 ch sts to 1 inch).

1st row: DC in 8th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch (sp). Repeat from * until there are 234 sps in all. Ch 5, turn.

2nd row: Dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc (sp over sp), make 28 more sps, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc (bl over sp), make 3 more bls, 6 sps, 3 bls, 6 sps, 4 bls, 27 sps, 4 bls, 6 sps, 3 bls, 6 sps, 4 bls, 28 sps, 4 bls, 6 sps, 3 bls, 6 sps, 4 bls, 27 sps, 4 bls, 6 sps, 3 bls, 6 sps, 4 bls, 29 sps, ch 2, skip 3 sts of turning ch, dc in next ch. Ch 5, turn.

3rd row: 89 sps, 1 bl, dc in 3 dc (bl over bl made), make 4 more bls, 4 sps, 2 bls, ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc (sp over bl made), 2 bls, 4 sps, (5 bls. 25 sps, , 6 bls, 4 sps, 2 bls, 1 sp, 2 bls, 4 sps, 6 bls, 26 sps, 6 bls, 4 sps, 2 bls, 1 sp, 2 bls, 4 sps, 6 bls, 25 sps, 6 bls, 4 sps, 2 bls, 1 sp, 2 bls, 4 sps, 6 bls, 29 sps. Ch 5, turn.

Chart shows one quarter of design. To make second half of each row, repeat the first half, starting from center and working back, but do not repeat the exact center sp or bl as the case may be. Follow chart to top; then reverse design by working back to 1st row, but do not repeat top row of chart. Do not fasten off but work a row of sc all around, keeping work flat. Fasten off.
