2nd ROW: 1 d c in each s c, ch 1, turn.

3rd ROW: 1 s c in each d c.

4th ROW: Ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 2 s c, popcorn st over next 3 s c (popcorn st: 2 d c in each of the next 3 s c, drop loop from hook, insert in 1st d c, pick up dropped loop and pull through st), * ch 2, popcorn st over next 3 s c, repeat from * across row to within last 3 sts, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 3 s c, ch 1, turn - 102 (142) popcorn sts.

5th ROW: 1 s c in each d c, s c over next ch 1, s c in next popcorn st, * 2 s c over next ch 2, s c in next popcorn st, repeat from * across row ending with s c in each d c and in 3rd st of ch, turn.

6th ROW: Same as 4th row working popcorn sts over popcorn sts (to work popcorn sts over popcorn sts: working over s c of row below throughout, 2 d c in next loop pulling loops up to level of row being worked, 2 d c in top of popcorn st of previous row, 2 d c in next loop, complete popcorn st), * ch 2, popcorn st in next popcorn as follows: (working popcorn st in same manner 2 d c in last loop already worked in, 2 d c in top of next popcorn st, 2 d c in next loop), repeat from * across row ending with ch 1, d c in last s c, ch 1, turn.

Repeat 5th and 6th rows once (both sizes).

9th ROW: Repeat 5th row.

10th ROW: Ch 3, work 1 d c in each of the next 2 s c, work 3 popcorn sts, ch 1, d c in s c before s c directly above next popcorn st, then work 1 d c in each s c to within last 3 popcorn sts, ch 1, work 3 popcorn sts ending with ch 1, 1 d c in each of the last 3 s c, ch 1, turn.

11th ROW: Working in s c work 1 s c in each d c, in each popcorn st and over each ch 1, 2 s c over each ch 2 and 1 s c in end loop and 1 s c in 3rd st of same loop, turn.

Repeat 10th and 11th rows 28 times.

68th ROW: Mark center of row (each size).

Start Eagle following chart A, working rows and sts according to detail at bottom of chart. Keeping borders as established follow chart A from a to b.

NOTE: Be sure to have a ch 1 before 1st popcorn st, ch 2 between other popcorn sts and a ch 1 after last popcorn st. When chart A is completed repeat 11th and 10th rows 90 times, then repeat 11th row once.

NEXT ROW: Follow chart B from c to d. When chart B is completed work even in s c, d c rows keeping borders as established until spread measures 100 inches from beg (both sizes).

BORDER: With wrong side of spread facing, working around the 2 long sides and lower edge only, attach thread at upper right corner, ch 1, 1 s c in each s c row and 2 s c in each d c row working 1 s c in each st across lower edge and 3 s c in each corner st, ch 3, turn.

2nd ROW: 1 d c in each s c working 2 d c, 1 d c, 2 d c in each corner, ch 1, turn.

3rd ROW: 1 s c in each d c.

Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows once.

Work border in alternate s c, d c rows working all s c rows even and inc 6 d c evenly spaced around each corner in each d c row 5 times, then inc 8 d c evenly spaced 13 times ending with an s c row. Work 3 rows of popcorn sts same as 4th through 9th rows.

NEXT ROW: 1 d c in each d c inc 8 d c evenly spaced at each corner, cut thread. NEXT ROW: Attach thread in opposite corner, working in back loop of each st work 1 sl st in each d c all around spread, join, cut thread.

FINISHING: Work 3 chains each 1 yd. long, work 1 sl st in each st of ch, then sl st along other side of ch, join, cut thread. Cut chs to necessary length for branches at top and at lower part of Eagle as illustrated on chart. Pull ends to wrong side, tack in place, fasten securely.
