From : Eric Sent : Thursday, October 12, 2006 5:50 PM To : bsa-t453 Subject : [bsa-t453] Coyote Creek Dear all, Thank you all for volunteering to help man CCCC Rest Stops!!! Here's a summary of who has volunteered for which Rest Stop, and lots more info: 1. Metcalf: T495 8:15 - 12:30 2. Hellyer: T453 9:15 - 12:30 3. *Calero: T453 8:00 - 11:00 Shift 4. *Calero: T485: 11:00 - 2:00 Shift 5. Chesebro: T201: 9:00 - 1:00 6. Uvas: 9:30 - 1:30 Doug Erickson & friends * Katie Skinner has also volunteered to help at Calero. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ENDING TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE. THE REAL END TIME WILL BE WHEN THE SAG WAGON COMES BY TO PICK UP THE EXTRA FOOD. As of 10/10/06, 1. the 12 Mile Ride has 191 Riders 2. the 25 Mile Ride has 250 Riders 3. the 50 Mile Ride has 157 Riders These numbers are expected to go up due to last minute registrations and walk-in registrations, so all Rest Stop Volunteers are going to be busy!!! DIRECTIONS TO MODEL AIRPLANE PARK VIA MONTEREY ROAD 1. Travel 7.0 miles south past BERNAL ROAD 2. Turn RIGHT on LIVE OAK 3. Cross the RxR Tracks 4. Make a "U" Turn 5. Turn LEFT (North) on MONTEREY ROAD 6. Travel 0.8 miles north on MONTEREY ROAD 7. Turn RIGHT at the "Mara Brothers, 550 Monterey Road" and "Skypark" signs. PARKING: Drive down and park in the dirt lot. OA members will be directing traffic and parking. REST STOP CHECK-IN: Please check-in at the REST STOP Volunteer Table, so that I will know that you have arrived. Tentatively, the REST STOP table will be just past the parking lot, near the SAG Wagon Volunteer Table. _______________________________________________________________________ BIKERS SHOULD RIDE ABOUT A MILE PAST THE PARKING LOT - past the REST STOP Volunteer Table - TO CHECK-IN AT THE REGISTRATION TABLE, WHERE THEY WILL GET THEIR ID NUMBERs. WE EXPECT BIKERS TO REGISTER AS EARLY AS 7:00 AM, AND START RIDING ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. _______________________________________________________________________ REST STOP CHECK-IN (con't): At the REST STOP Table, Rest Stop Volunteers will receive: - directions - an information package - patches and or volunteer T-shirts (we need to know how many of each size), TRAVEL TO REST STOP A SAG Wagon will lead Rest Stop Volunteers to their rest stop. REST STOP DUTIES Unload the food and drinks, and set up your table, shade tent (pop-up tent), etc. The SAG Wagons will have large bottles-containers of water, not individual serving bottles. The idea is that most bikers will have their own water bottles and you can simply refill them. Some Dixie cups will be available. Food will consist of: bananas, oranges, raisins, peanuts, energy bars. The idea is that you cut up bananas, oranges and energy bars, as needed. Please check out the conditions of the local rest rooms, or port-o-potties, as the case may be. The SAG Wagons will have extra TOILET PAPER, and WET WIPES. The idea is that you can tell people where the rest rooms are located, and will have some idea that they are in useable shape Please record the number of the biker(s) stopping or riding past your rest stop. Record the number on the number sheet we will provide you. Be sure to turn-in this number sheet. You will be given directions on who to give the number sheet (probably the Registration Table). UNIFORMS It is suggested you travel in Class A, but wear Class B for your Rest Stop Duties. It is also suggested you bring a camera to take of picture of your group's participation in this service project. OTHER: I have asked each group to bring its own table and shade tent, as well as chairs, knives, cutting boards, etc. Good news: CCCC (Kirky) will have a few extra "pop-up tents" for those who are unable to supply one. Make sure to bring Pens or Pencils, sunscreen, sunglasses, and anything else for personal convenience. LUNCHES: The SAG Wagons will make an effort to deliver the lunches. If your shift ends and you return for lunch, then park your car in the parking lot, and you can get a ride in one of the cars which will serve as a shuttle ... or you can walk the mile to the Registration Area, where the food is located. Please let me know if you have questions. Again, thank you for volunteering. thanks, Eric
