Ron was born and raised on a ranch in Colorado
where he and his family raised cattle and Appaloosa horses.
The idea of the barbed wire art designs
originated from Ron's dad, Bob Shepherd.
In the summer of 1994, Ron took a "crash
course" from his dad then returned to carry on the art
in Canada.
Old barbed wire is used to give the frame
character and each design tells a story that people can
relate to - whether from personal experience or of someone
they know.
Each design portrays the love that Ron
has for the "country life" and the wildlife that freely
roam this land.
The detailed metal silhouette figures are
hand cut with tin snips, framed in barbed wire, painted
and simply decorated.
Each design portrays the past, present,
friendships and scenes of tranquility, courage and pride.
