So many stories are told about the ship's documents. The one generally accepted is that they were ruined in one of Brisbane's floods. Most researchers believe it was the 1893 flood. I can't come to terms with this suggestion.
A friend gave me these copies which he obtained via the documents held in the Queensland State Archives, many years ago, but not over a hundred years ago! It can be seen from these that there is certainly water damage, but they can be read, albeit with difficulty.
