Kai was born February 12, 1998 after 26 hours of induced labor. He was born 7 weeks early
because I had Severe Preclampsia, and the only cure is to have the baby. Because he was
born early, he was immediatly taken to the NICU. He could not breathe on his own which was
the main reason for him being there. He weighed only 4lbs and 13oz and was so tiny!
Kai's original due date was March 25, and the doctors told me that he would probably not be
released until that time. Kai showed us how strong he would be in life when he was released
from the hospital a mere week later! He improved so fast the Doctors were stunned. They
could not believe how well he did in such a short period of time. Kai has been going strong
ever since!
The doctors told me that he would probably have some kind of delay. They said that it
usually is common for premature infants to have some kind of delay. Again he shocked everyone when he reached
all the milestones ahead of schedule. He was walking at 9 and a half months. Unfortunatly he did have a delay
that we were not expecting. He did not start talking till much later on. He has been in speech therapy from the
time he was 18 months, he still recieves speech therapy at school.
Kai is now a very active 5 year old boy. He is in Kindergarten and is learning
so much! He has played soccer for four seasons now! He loves Rescue Heros and playing one of our
game systems. Right now his favorite is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on the Nintendo
Game Cube. We also have an X-box that my husband one off the radio. He can be found on one
of them!
