Monogram Mustang GT Convertible

Looking back, this was one of the more fun projects I've done. Five-liter Mustangs are in abundance around my area, and it's especially evident when they come out to play in the spring. This "Stang" has the typical look of those found around here. Stock 16" 5-star mags, the meatiest tires possible, and a low stance.
Lowering the rear of this model required cutting the "coil springs", the convertible top storage well, the floopan to make room for the driveshaft, and even the mounting points for the trailing arms. The exhaust as well was converted to a shorty-style setup, with the turndowns right behind the mufflers. This eliminated the rear section that would have had to go over the lowered axle, which didn't have clearance to this effect any more. This is a realistic setup for 1:1 Mustang racers as well, so it killed two birds with one stone.
The hood and Saleen-style Whaletail are A/FX N Scale resin parts, although the Whaletail is available in some issues of the Monogram Mustang GT.
Paint is from the ever-present Tamiya spray can, this time TS-49 Bright Red. No polishing was done on this model. As you can see, I went with the full show-finish chassis, and I even painted the inside of the body to avoid those unsightly unpainted areas which always end up being visible if you don't paint them! The interior is plain old flat white with a clearcoat over top, and the convertible boot and uptop are unpainted white plastic. The carpet sports grey flocking, and there's even an aluminum shifter knob.
You know, there's always one model in your display case that you're especially proud of, well this one is it for me. Every morning when I get dressed, this is the one I "check out". I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
