Descendants of Randolph (Randall) McDONALD

Generation No. 1

1.  RANDOLPH (RANDALL)2 MCDONALD  (JOHN (MCDANIEL)1) was born 1710 in
Lancaster, Lancaster Co, PA (Possibly Ireland)1, and died May 24, 1744
in Beverly Manor, Augusta Co,  VA.  He married JANE JENNET STARK Abt.
1730 in Pennsylvania.  She was born 1712 in Lancaster, Lancaster Co, PA,
and died in VA.

Notes for RANDOLPH (RANDALL) MCDONALD:
Randal McDonald and Jennet Stark lived on Linville Creek in Beverly
Manor and attended Tinkling Springs Presbyterian Church. He is buried
there.

When Randolph moved to Virginia they moved to Beverly Manor near Israel
Christian and Elizabeth, who we think was a sister to Jennet.  When
Randal died, Israel Christian and a Ramsey were guardians for
Alexander.  Court records in Augusta Co, VA;  CRAIGS Diary; Tinkling
Springs Seedbed of -------; Jennet remarried to Joseph McClellan (he
died in 1757) and the sisters and brothers-in-law entered into a court
case about the estate of brother Randolp; naming the married names of
the sisters as Fowler, Skidmore, Quinn, and Patterson.

When The Christians moved to Botetourt Co, Va, in 1767 Alexander and
Margaret sold out and went there also.  According to a researcher hired
by the Williams Descendants; Alexander bought two tracts of land in
Botetourt County of 75 and 100 acres; then in 1788 he sold the two
totaling 175 acres.

Children of RANDOLPH MCDONALD and JANE STARK are:
 i. RANDOLPH3 MCDONALD, JR., b. 1730, Lancaster, Lancaster Co, PA; d.
November 16, 1757, Augusta Co, VA.

Notes for RANDOLPH MCDONALD, JR.:
Randolph died very young, intestate, and his mother Jennet was the Admx
of his estate.  Source: Scotch Irish in Virginia,  Augusta Court
Records.

At one point it appeared he was unmarried because his sisters sued ref
his estate; but at another point mention of a wife was made; however his
mother was Admx of his estate.  (Mrs. Mapes says he died age 26
unmarried and that he was probably the oldest child)

ii. MARY MCDONALD, b. Aft. 1730, Orange Co, VA; d. Aft. 1756; m.
WILLIAM PATTERSON, 1755, Augusta Co, VA.

Notes for MARY MCDONALD:
It is unknown if this family moved along with Alexander into Sullivan
Co, TN but there were many Patterson marriages in Hawkins Co, TN.  ie:
Alex; May E; William L.; & William M.

iii. MARGARET MCDONALD, b. Aft. 1731, Beverly Manor, Augusta Co, VA; m.
JOHN FOWLER, Augusta Co,  Va.
2. iv. ALEXANDER B. MCDONALD, b. Abt. 1736, Tinkling Springs, Augusta
Co, VA; d. Abt. April 1812, Jefferson Co, TN.
 v. JANE MCDONALD, b. Abt. 1739, Augusta Co, VA; m. PATRICK QUINN, Abt.
1755, Augusta Co,  Va.
vi. SARAH MCDONALD, b. 1742, Augusta Co, Va; m. JAMES SKIDMORE, 1757,
Augusta Co, VA.

1756 in Augusta, VA.  She was born Abt. 1741 in Orange Co, VA3, and died
Aft. 1811 in Jefferson  Co, TN.

Notes for ALEXANDER B. MCDONALD:
Randolphs Family apparently lived in Lancaster Co, PA  and when Beverly
Manor opened in Virginia, they moved.  Alexander was the fourth or fifth
child and was born in Pennsylvania but christened at the Tinkling
Springs Church in Beverly Manor in 1740.  See Dr. CRAIGS list of
Baptisms also Scotch Irish of Virginia.

According to a researcher hired by the WILLIAMS descendants: Alexander
bought two tracts of land in Botetourt County, VA of  75 And 100 acres;
then in 1788 he sold the two totaling 175 acres.

Alexander was a soldier under Israel Christain in the Revolutionary War,
the first battle was at  Mt. Pleasant.  they also fought Dunmore's war
together.  Alexander served as a Private in Capt David McCLURES Company,
later as a Private in Capt William DRAKES Company, 8th Regiment of
Virginia Forces Foot, commanded by Col Abraham BOWMAN (War records from
