"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."   -Benjamin Franklin

One of the most interesting and pivotal moments in history lies in the founding of the United States of America.  For here we find a war in which America, by all standards of the warfare of the time, should have been defeated.  The British took state after state, city after city, and still we refused to give in.  The typical premise of military victory could not withstand the sheer determination of the future citizens of America.  Whenever a city was taken by military might, the citizens therein simply remained dedicated to the cause.  Thus, our dear country became a force to be reckoned with.  We would do well to remember the dedication and indeed the sheer courage and will that was a part of every member of this country's founding.
