Arwen & Justin
Arwen and Justin have been together since meeting on a regional band tour, where they held the positions of principal and assistant-principal flute. They have collaborated on several musical endeavours together, including this comprehensive website on the flute. Soon they will be celebrating their second anniversary!

Arwen
A flute performer of 8 years, Arwen studies flute under Shelley Younge at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Her past performance experience includes tours with regional honour bands, solo festival competitions, as well as school and community ensembles. She has been a youth supervisor and music instructor for two summers at a youth music camp at Cold Lake, Alberta. Her range of instruments include flute, alto and tenor saxophone, tin whistle, and bodhran. Recently, her studies required her to begin piano. Arwen is currently studying Classics at the University of Alberta, while still taking music courses. Her non-musical interests include biathlon, biking, and running.

Justin
Justin, who lived in Kenora, Ontario, Canada for most of his life, just recently moved to Edmonton, Alberta to study Biological Sciences at the U of A. His musical credentials include 10 years of piano, 8 years of flute, 4 years of music theory, 4 years of teaching flute, and 4 years of composing. He has participated in festival competitions for piano, flute, and composition, many flute solo performances and choir accompaniments, a regional honour band, various local bands and ensembles, and has won the Kenora Registered Music Teacher's Trophy for an advanced instrumental level. Justin was also the musical director of a woodwind ensemble for the summer of 2002, and the founder and director of a flute choir in 2002. His interests besides music include: sailing, marine engineering, running, cross-country skiing, and military traditions (navy). His future plans include a medical degree.
