Monthly Newletter

September 5, 2001 was our last meeting, and I would like to thank Marsha for taking notes for me while I was sick. Now on to business... We had our Poker Run on September 2, 2001. We sold 14 T-shirts, had 20 people enter the poker run, and gained three new members: Randy Long, John Epling, and Stanley Blackwelder. Everyone who came out had a blast. We would also like to thank James and Dorothy Harris for letting us use their house boat for our event. A couple of other “thank you’s” that should be said go out to Central Florida Gun, Pawn, and Jewelry, Diamondback Airboats, and Bandit Airboats for their donations to our clubs. Their contribution helped to make our event a success. Overall we raised $422.00 on Sunday.

Alot of group activities were discussed among the members on September 5th. Steve and Doug suggested a Gar Gig to take place on October 6, 2001. It will be from 7 to 11pm beginning at the Pine Island boat ramp. The cost will be $5.00 per boat as well as $5.00 per gig. Rules will be given out at the gig. Secondly, we discussed have a cleanup around the lake like last year. If we want to keep riding on this lake we’ve got to chip in to help make it beautiful (also we could get some public attention). One last thing that was discussed was the idea of having a cookout/campout when it cools down.

The club is thinking about getting together with the Lake County Airboaters to make a sign for the Blue Creek Landing that says “NO DRY LOADING” to assist in keeping the ramp open and to eliminate future complaints and problems with local residence.

THINGS TO BE DISCUSSED AT NEXT MTG.

  • “End of the Year” party
  • Christmas Parade participation
  • Food Drive
  • Booth at Volusia County Fair
  • Participation at the Hunting and Fishing Expo.
  • If you have any suggestions, questions, or comments on any of these topics please bring them with you to the next meeting.
