SpiritLib is a place where people of like mind can discuss almost anything. It is for people who tend to be liberal or progressive and who are also interested in spirituality. We recognize that spirituality, metaphysics and progressive thinking go hand-in-hand. We enjoy the camaraderie and challenges that this list offers. If you join us, please participate. There are countless lists where you can lurk, but lurking only adds to stagnation. Help make it a dynamic contribution to all our lives by speaking up and speaking out.
This is not a moderated list. It is a list designed for adults who understand that disagreements will arise. We recognize that disagreement, even heated disagreement, does not mean disrespect or dislike. We celebrate our differences, and differences of opinion, as much as our similarities and commonalities. We know that we can "cuss and discuss" without hating or being hateful. We assume a foundation of respect for each other. Happily, the freedom to express ourselves creates an atmosphere of trust and respect.
On the other hand, we do have a few rules and caveats. They include, but aren't limited to, the following:
Trolls will, of course, be removed from the list.
If you have an agenda other than sharing and seeking with an open mind, then this isn't the list for you.
If you're looking for a place to bombard with your pet interest, then you should also look elsewhere. We have a wide range of interests and ask that you do, as well.
Religious proselytes will not find this list appropriate for them. Some of us may be followers or members of certain religions or religious traditions, but we are not interested in being converted to yours, nor do we attempt to convert each other. We are here to share, grow and learn.
Political or social conservatives will not find this to be a place of comfort. There are ample lists where conservative views can be shared. This probably isn't an appropriate list for you, unless you're open-minded and are seeking to learn more.
Members should not forward anything from the list that reveals a listmember's personal information, including email address.
It should go without saying, but please keep all the cute and funny email forwards, internet warnings and jokes, and chain letters to yourself. Certainly, the occasional humor post is fine, and even a golden oldie is worth repeating from time to time, but be judicious in your choices. Posting chain letters, hoaxes, urban legends, or internet "warnings" will likely get you some blunt responses. It's best to refrain. When in doubt, feel free to ask.
SpiritLib is set to strip HTML. Bandwidth is a consideration for many people, and most of us find that simple text is easier to read, anyway.
