G'day. My name is Rodney Nichols. I live with my wife Judy in the garden city of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. I am a descendant of John Nichols, an Australian First Fleet convict, and his son Thomas.
Thomas Nichols was born about 1814 in Sydney, the son of John and Ann (Pugh) Nichols. John arrived in Australia as a convict on the First Fleet in 1788. In 1850 Thomas married Martha Johnson and in 1851 they travelled to Victoria where their twelve children were born. Thomas died from pneumonia on 24 April 1882 while visiting his brother Joseph in Sydney. Martha survived until the 7th of October 1911 when she died at Korweinguboora, Victoria.
My line continues with Thomas John Nichols, born 1854 in Geelong, Victoria. He married Amelia Foss in 1879. They had eleven children and when Thomas John died in 1902 Amelia and several of their children moved to Western Australia.
Thomas and Martha's other children remained in Victoria. Details of them is sketchy, so if you are related please contact me.
