A LITTLE PERSONAL INFO
I've always wanted to learn to fly. However, the thought of shoehorning myself into a 36inch wide airplane that looked like it was made out of tin foil, and leaving the ground in it, was not a thought that I relished. It has always been my philosophy that if I couldn't reach it from a Coca-Cola crate, I didn't need it!
One Sunday, bored and looking for something to do, I went to a local R/C flying field that someone had told me about. Well, Lo' and Behold, there stood Wade Braswell, an old shipmate from the U.S. Coast Guard who I hadn't seen in almost twenty years.
As I'm sure you've guessed by now, it didn't take "Brazz" long to show me the perfect alternative to climbing into an airplane narrow enough to wear, and leaving the ground in it.
Since I learned to fly, I've scratch-built, from plans, more than twenty airplanes for both myself and other people. In addition, I've redesigned several other planes, including the 'Tiger Sixty' in the picture above, which I built as a twin engine. It flew beautiful!
I've also designed, drew up my own full-sized plans, and built four 'quarter scale' airplanes. All of which were sold to other flyers who are still flying them today.
I became certified as an Instructor By the AMA, (Academy of Model Aeronautics) in 2000, and have since retired from instructing.
